Wild game. Sloppy. Too many mistakes for the Raiders so far.

    - that Burrow TD pass was on a play that should have been blown dead.
    - penalties that killed potential scoring drives. That holding call on Simpson when we were at the 1.
    - Barber's mental gaffe sticking us at the 2 on that kickoff.
    - we did not play a "clean" game. The crowd noise? Exhaustion both mentally and physically from the draining Sunday night win.
    - after all the screw ups, we were down only a score in the end.

Season over but proud of the team. Adversity all around yet we made it this far.

Ill have more to say but this was my feeling right after the game I posted on my page....

It is nothing but a game. Nothing more than grown men playing a childs sport. A series of highs and lows that will mean nothing in the biggest pictures of life. A symbol flown to represent them, a fan base bound together by a legacy of winning and a history of losing. Just a game. No one will (should) die from the outcome of the game. The world will not be made better with the outcome of the game. It’s just a game. Year in and year out we fans band together to believe that this year is “our” year. We yell at the owners, coaches, players, refs, other fans, other teams with a boiling fire built from years and years of supporting and believing.

With an interception on the 2 yard line another season has fallen short of the ultimate goal of hoisting the big trophy. Another season’s hopes and dreams will be put to bed as an interim coach finds out what the future holds, as a QB who has all the talent in the world but just comes up (2-yards) short when it matters the most has to defend another team let down and an owner who wants very badly to rise from his larger than life father’s shadow and bring a Championship to team, fans and city. Today the cheers will stop till next season but one thing will remain…..

ONCE A RAIDER ALWAYS A RAIDER!

This year my be my proudest to be a Raiders fan. I got to see the men behind the helmets come together against amazing s*** this year. I can hate the way this player played in the game but I won’t hate any of the men that dressed up. They fought. They stood up when no one believed they could and they showed character when everything seemed to be the opposite of quality character. I’m proud of two recovering addicts who stood and told their story to help others. I’m proud of a career coach who took over a team considered a trainwreck for so many reasons yet got them to rally and do something not done in a long time. I’m proud of a quarterback who stands in the light of his faith and shows respect and belief in not only himself but in all his brothers. I’m proud of a defensive lineman who decides to stand up in front of the “manly” world and says “I am a man and I am gay.” I am proud of a team that stood with them all and said “these are our brothers now lets go fight!” It’s just a game.

I am a Raiders fan my flags will fly year round, I’ll rep them win, lose or draw and yes I know it’s just a game. Come next season I’ll be the same I as this season a s*** talker and a die-hard fk-your-team Raider Nation rider. That is what it is to celebrate the teams. They give us a break from life for a few and for that I am grateful. The highs and lows are what we ask for and it is what we get.

    Great season Raiders!

Once a Raider ALWAYS a RAIDER! ONE NATION- RAIDER NATION!

A really good game. A good season. Players played their tails off to get into that game and until the end of that game. Hats off to the organization. They have a lot of decisions to make, but this is the best it's felt to be a Raiders fan in a long time.

    Offensive Line
    * = under contract for next season

    *OT Kolton Miller 1140 snaps, 5 penalties (t-33), 4 sacks allowed (t-27), 84.2 PFF
    *C Andre James 1140, 7 penalties (t-5), 2 sacks allowed (t-11), 64.2 PFF
    *OG John Simpson 1113, 10 penalties (7th), 3 sacks allowed (t-28), 52.6 PFF
    *OG Alex Leatherwood 1105, 14 penalties (3rd), 8 sacks allowed (2nd), 44.9 PFF
    OT Brandon Parker 882, 9 penalties (t-7), 8 sacks allowed (t-6), 55.7 PFF
OG Jermaine Eluemunor 266, 0 penalties, 0 sacks allowed, 59.8 PFF
OG Jordan Simmons 31, 0 penalties, 1 sack allowed, 48.6 PFF
*OG Denzelle Good 17, 0 penalties, 0 sacks allowed, 50.6 PFF
    C Nick Martin 7, 1 penalty, 0 sacks allowed, 36.6 PFF
OT Jackson Barton 6, 0 penalties, 0 sacks allowed, 52.9 PFF
OG Lester Cotton 5, 0 penalties, 0 sacks allowed, 58.5 PFF
*OL Kamaal Seymour - under contract

The clear top two Raiders' OL return next season, and Simpson, Leatherwood, and Good give them some clear depth options, too. They need an OT. Though Parker has finally taken some positive strides, it seems that his position is the most likely to be upgraded. When you have two guys in the top ten for both penalties and sacks allowed at their spot, you have to make a move. I expect Leatherwood to improve, but he seems like an OG going forward.

I just saw that the officiating crew for our game won't be back for the rest of the playoffs. We had a chance to win against the odds but ive said all season the moment mark spoke out at the owners meeting everything went against us. I'm not a "fix is in" type dude but..... This stinks of NFL wanting the Raiders to fail.

So many wide open calls that didn't get flagged on the Bengals and that TD after the whistle. Honestly think the league wanted the Raiders out as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading. I'm really proud of what these boys did this year plain and simple. A lot of people hating on this player or that player and all that jazz but me I'm just loving it.

-The Raiders' defensive front was the best it has been in some time, thanks in part to a top pressure rate (despite the lowest blitz rate) in the NFL. With Crosby and Ngakoue both returning, Ferrell and Nassib under contract, and promising rookie Malcolm Koonce controlled longterm, the team has very good depth outside. The inside poses some question marks, as Jefferson, Hankins, Thomas, and Philon are all Free Agents.

With all mostly blowouts in the Playoffs, it seems ours was the most competitive save maybe the San Fran-Dallas game. The zebras affected that one too.

    Running Backs
    *
Josh Jacobs 625 snaps, 281 plays, 1220 yards, 29 broken tackles, 833 yards added. 82.8 PRWT. 77.4 PFF.
*Kenyan Drake 280 snaps, 103 plays, 545 yards, 9 broken tackles, 366 yards added. 103.2 PRWT. 73.5 PFF.
Alec Ingold 136 snaps, 14 plays, 87 yards, 1 broken tackle, 46 yards added. 124.0 PRWT. 70.6 PFF.
*Jalen Richard 117 snaps, 23 plays, 112 yards, 1 broken tackle, 84 yards added. 58.3 PRWT. 66.8 PFF.
Peyton Barber 116 snaps, 68 plays, 279 yards, 6 broken tackles, 160 yards added. 87.7 PRWT. 73.0 PFF.
*Sutton Smith 44 snaps, no plays.
*Trey Ragas 9 snaps, 3 plays, 15 yards, 0 broken tackles, 15 yards added. 79.2 PRWT. 64.8 PFF.

Jacobs turned it on in the second half of the season and carried his impressive string into the playoffs. He will be back and thankfully. Drake and Richard will also be back. Both saw some highlights this season, but both face uphill battles for next year. Drake has a pretty serious injury to rehab. Richard was increasingly ineffective in the passing game, which is to be his bread and butter. Sutton Smith has another year on his deal, while Ingold is a Free Agent. If Ingold is healthy, he should be back. He's one of the best in the business and gives more options than Smith (as evidenced by Ingold's involvement in a play on more than 10% of his snaps - compared to Smith's 0 plays on 44 snaps). Barber looked solid, but a boneheaded play on a kickoff in the playoffs and the wealth of decent RB options around the league could end his tenure.

    Linebackers
    *Perryman 863 snaps, 80 targets, 114.1 PRWT, 8.9% missed tackles, 0.7 Relentless, 59.9 PFF
    *Littleton 661 snaps, 56 targets, 95.1 PRWT, 7.5% missed tackles, 0.8 Relentless, 47.2 PFF
    Wright 425 snaps, 17 targets, 115.4 PRWT, 5.6% missed tackles, 0.2 Relentless, 63.1 PFF
    *Deablo 296 snaps, 13 targets, 105.0 PRWT, 2.2% missed tackles, 0.3 Relentless, 64.6 PFF

    *Kwiatkoski 66 snaps, 7 targets, 118.7 PRWT, 4.5% missed tackles, 0.0 Relentless, 59.4 PFF
    Lee 33 snaps, 1 target, 91.7 PRWT, 8.3% missed tackles, 0.0 Relentless, 50.3 PFF
    Wilber 4 snaps, 0 targets, n/a, n/a, 0.0 Relentless, 60.4 PFF
    Onwuasor 1 snap, 0 targets, n/a, n/a, 0.0 Relentless, 59.9 PFF
    *March-Lillard n/a

The Raiders' LBs were probably the best they have been in a few seasons. Perryman stepped in and simply got the job done in the run game. Littleton lost his starting spot, but he was actually okay in pass coverage (he allowed the lowest passer rating when targeted among any Raiders' LB with at least 2 targets). Wright and Deablo both played well. Wright's contract is up, but Deablo looks like someone who can slot into an OLB position without any problems. He should be a starter for years to come.

After that, things are less clear. Kwiatkoski is under contract, but he really battled injuries this season. None of the others made much of an impact. And there's still Nicholas Morrow whose 2020 season was arguably as good as any Raiders' LB's 2021 season. He's not under contract, but, if he's healthy, he could likely be had at a bargain.

    Receivers - sorted by snaps
    Edwards 811 snaps, 59 targets, 34 receptions, 571 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 1 drop, 107.4 PRWT, 53.8 PFF
    Renfrow 758 snaps, 128 targets, 103 receptions, 1038 yards, 9 TD, 1 INT, 2 drops, 120.6 PRWT, 80.6 PFF
    Moreau 748 snaps, 44 targets, 30 receptions, 373 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT, 4 drops, 98.0 PRWT, 58.8 PFF
    Jones 640 snaps, 70 targets, 47 receptions, 546 yards, 1 TD, 5 INTs, 2 drops, 65.5 PRWT, 70.2 PFF
    Waller 608 snaps, 93 targets, 55 receptions, 665 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, 5 drops, 79.4 PRWT, 68.2 PFF
-The fact that Edwards played the most snaps might tell us a lot - he's not involved in the pass game enough, but he's a solid blocker for a WR. Renfrow had a brilliant season. After that, the main receivers were a mixed bag. Moreau dropped 1 in 11 passes and was asked to block beyond his (solid) abilities. Waller was overtargeted, as his 79.4 Passer Rating When Targeted shows. And Zay Jones - Carr threw as many INTs targeting him as he did when targeting all the others combined.

    Ruggs 334 snaps, 36 targets, 24 receptions, 469 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 2 drops, 128.2 PRWT, 73.4 PFF
    Jackson 203 snaps, 19 targets, 12 receptions, 233 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 drop, 101.4 PRWT, 69.0 PFF
-The speedster and his replacement. Ruggs was better, but Jackson did well for a midseason pickup. He was better with LV than he was with LA, too.

    Helm 60 snaps, 2 targets, 1 reception, -1 yards, 0 int, 0 drops, 56.2 PRWT, 59.9 PFF
    Carrier 45 snaps, 2 targets, 2 receptions, 13 yards, 0 int, 0 drops, 93.7 PRWT, 59.5 PFF
    Bowers 40 snaps, 0 targets
-Three TEs who mostly block. I still think Carrier is the best of the bunch.

    Snead 38 snaps, 5 targets, 3 receptions, 32 yards, 1 INT, 1 drop, 39.2 PRWT, 53.8 PFF
    Johnson 29, 0 targets, 46.9 PFF
    Stoner 21 snaps, 0 targets
    Bushman 11 snaps, 0 targets
-Raiders can't really afford to keep a guy on roster who's only a kick returner and isn't very good at it. Snead made a bad call for himself, asking to be released, but it was probably good for the Raiders. He seemed out of it.

I like Zay Jones as a person on the roster. Good dude. But three years, $24m guaranteed, is kind of crazy. In his last three seasons, he has two TDS, fewer than 200 receptions in his career - and he'll be 27. And once again, his Passer Rating When Targeted was terrible last season - under 70. Only Richard, Helm, and Snead were worse.

Raiders agree to terms with CB Darius Phillips.

Phillips is a 5'10 CB, will be 27 years old.

In four seasons with Cincy, he has played in 47 games, starting 10. He has 5 career INTs, 23 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 73 tackles.

In pass coverage, he had good success through his first two seasons - holding opponents to below 82 passer rating. In the past two seasons, things have not gone so well, and he was abused in 2021. In the past two seasons, he was targeted 71 times, with 39 completions for 498 yards, 6 TDs, and only 1 INT. I don't know what the difference was between 2020 and 2021 - could be injuries. But his advanced metrics looks pretty darn good in 2020 and pretty bad in 2021.

PFF likes the Chandler Jones signing and the Nichols signing.

I'll say more when I have some time to look through the players.
