We weren't that great with him playing either. To me the failures of this season boil down to roster construction and effort. I think the team sees the writing on the wall and are mailing it in.
It’s just not working. Time to move on, and honestly, make the moves now. Get what you can for THT, dangle him, attach DJ and Bazemore along with. THT is a great prospect, but he’s redundant on this team. We have plenty of ball handlers. I’d also get a young, athletic big. And stop with this small ball nonsense. It isn’t working. see if you can get rid of Ellington and ariza, both have been useless. Time to get younger. I know it’s impossible to move Westbrook, so we have to make due with him. Malik Monk has been the only bright spot in all this, and it’s sad, because we will not be able too retain his services after this season
I had gotten my hopes up when seeing the Nuggets starting lineup and realized how many injuries they have, thought we had a shot at a winnable game. I really should have known better… Of COURSE the Lakers would get blown out by the superstar duo of Bones Hyland and Jeff Green.
What the Lakers need to do is find a time machine and do not do the following: 1. trade for Westbrick. 2. sign mostly old guys like DJ, Bazeless, Ariza etc. 3. let the Eagle go. Dwight Huff AD. Melo. SJ LBJ. Reaves KCP. Buddy Eagle THT Title favorite instead of non play off team
even if AD suddenly comes back playing like he did in 19-20, this team has too many major problems to even think about contending for a title. the roster is just too flawed and the key offseason acquisition is a terrible fit
Embarrassing. I stopped watching games a few weeks ago, it's just painful, no fun at all. Yesterday I made a big bet on Denver, didn't even had second thoughts, it was so clear we would get beaten heavily. Wasn't expecting this though It's sad we are wasting good Lebron years for nothing, but on the other hand, it's mostly his fault due to all the movements on the roster made by him I don't even know what's the next step for us
The thing with THT is that he is redundant with Westbrook but we actually want to get rid of him too. So when he's gone, wouldn't it be better to have THT? Lebron will also retire some day and he can help THT develop, though I don't recall young guys talking about him working with them If this year is lost and Westbrook is bond to go away, trading THT only makes sense if we don't believe in his potential
He hasn't shown me any improvement in his game even with the changing roles. Hell, Kuz was able to at least show me he improved on defense when he was here going through a similar thing.
Just musing here and certainly not defending play of the mercenaries and old folks on the roster at sea level when it looks the same …. but of course the Nuggets are acclimated to mile high elevation and “perhaps” the majority of our roster having recently had some level of a bout with Covid …. might have factored in as well past the first quarter and as the game went on? Why do we always have a tough time in Denver at 5,280 feet?
Team is broken and from a Vogel team its the defense: defensive players don't have enough offensive punch, offensive players play are weak defenders, and most importantly just no defense. Time to make a move: losing "talent" to get guys who are willing to play defense, box out, etc
I still can't believe that a team would just destroy their identity for Russell Westbrook. A tough, huge, defense first team blown up to accommodate a stupid me first player who doesn't give a s*** about defense was just dumb
Because last season we imploded, because of the shortened offseason. So... the pressure of "LeBron time" kicked in and they, indeed, scrambled (oh, the irony). It was stupid. I've seen someone else mentioning it... but it KILLS ME thinking of "what could have been": Nunn + AC + AR + ... manning the PG/SG duties. I blame the stupid "let's preserve LeBron by letting someone else handle" ... LeBron doesn't know how to play the-non-LeBron way. This would never work. All we needed is a backup PG to take these duties while Bron sits, not together with him on the court. Nunn + AR (in hinsight) could have done that well enough. Nunn is hurt, so it would have been just as bad, but at least AC and AR would choke teams.
what kills me is we had so many options and just blew them all up. we had three movable players in kuz, trez, and kcp, and the ability to s&t schroder. the russ move basically knocked all those options out. i know schroder ended up being frozen out, but who knows how it goes if we don't basically kick him out the door. maybe someone wants him for slightly over mle and offers us a useful role player for him. i just don't know how to get out of it now. ideally, you basically undo the russ trade (take back three middling salaries on players that don't wow anyone), but i don't think that's even a real option. so how do you build knowing he's here?
True. THT is way younger though, we shouldn't forget that. It affects not only basketball but also the maturity as a person. I must admit he doesn't wow me though For real. It's hard to even grasp positive things to take from this season. Picking up AR for sure but I don't see anything else Maybe Knicks would take a bet on Russ huh? At this point I don't even care who we get in return.
