no point in trading THT. this team's issues won't be fixed by acquiring one or two guys

just let this season play out and start looking towards next season

i may be one of the few who thinks THT isn't worthless and may still be a good player but would also move him for grant.

moot, anyway, as stein's info suggests det wants to hang onto grant. stein's usually pretty solid.

I don't know if we can move him.

I mean: if you decide to move Nunn and THT, much more of your ball handling and playmaking responsibilities go to Westbrook.

With as bad as he's been, I don't known if we could take the chance.

Of course this is only matters of the Lakers still think they have a chance @ anything this year and might want to consider this.

to me, grant's not a win-now move. i mean, it can be, but he's only 27 and you'd have his bird rights going forward, so he could be viewed as a foundational piece of sorts. this is why moving tht for him wouldn't bother me.

again, just no covingtons or thad youngs. players i like that really aren't guys you plan on keeping around.

    Agree.

I'd make the move but only for Grant.

I would do Covington (not including Tucker) but only for scraps.

we can't scrape together enough salary for him without THT, i think. there's a chance he's bought out, too, imo. in which case he just joins bkn and rides to a ring probably.

anyway, thad young and covington pickups are for teams that look a lot closer to contending than we currently do.

    Yeah, that crossed my mind.

We're not am attractive buyout destination.

It may get worse over the next 2 weeks.

I think it depends on the position they play. If it's a C, then no. They know they'll be situational and glued to the bench any time we go small. But for a wing, I think we are definitely a marquee destination. You can walk into a starting spot, Stan did. You get maximum exposure on national TV. You have two guys in Bron and Russ who like to rack up assists, you're going to get wiiide open looks. And there's a chance, even if it's small, that you're competing for a ship.

You're not going to find a better situation leading into your next contract this off season

I still think that this team is going to be a legit title contender by the playoffs . That's if we don't make any moves, health is a bigger factor than adding another player IMO.

Something else to consider regarding THT, if there's a path to keeping Monk, THT cannot stick around. You can't perfectly predict the market and who's willing to shell out $ as the market dries, but you can have a convo with Monk and his agent and see where they're at. See if he's open to taking the tax payer's MLE and then us take care of him the following summer when we have his bird rights. If you can keep him, which I absolutely suggest if possible, you can't sink even more $ in our backcourt considering other roster holes. I would pick Monk over THT for this team every day of the week.

Wonder what personal reasons kept WCS out. If we can dump DJ in a multi player deal, WCS wouldn't be a bad 3rd C. His physical profile fits with the type of big Vogel likes, plus he's like 40 NBA years younger than DJ.

Hoping something better shakes loose, but if it doesn't, he'd be worth considering.

He’s more like a second (real) option at center on this team. I’m over the LeBron at Center experiment. Tired of watching the layup lines and getting destroyed on the boards.

If it’s a matter of picking between the two, this is a no brainer.

wcs's heart's never been in the game.

so he fits pretty well with what we've had going this year.

He's definitely one of those who's only a NBA player because he kept growing and was born with some natural athletic gifts. If he was 6-3, 0% he puts in the work to differentiate himself from the 2000 other college/non-NBA players that size fighting for a spot in the league.

Dwight could be useful in teaching a thing or two about finding fun and enjoyment out of the game. That is if he's not too busy going to a concert or ministering a wedding.

Lakers don't have any leverage I think they will pony up Reaves for Grant or Turner.

that would be a very dumb move, just throwing more youth away for a minor quick fix

I really don't want to give up AR but Turner is only 25 and is definitely not minor. 25 isn't youth? He could be a big piece moving forward, even post Bron.

ok i didn't realize how old Turner was but Turner isnt going to turn this team around this season either but I agree with you he could be good for next yr and on but we'll not getting better as long as Russ is here
