I'm curious if our offer was 2 2nds + Nunn or 2 2nds + Baze and DJ. I think we could've roped in a 3rd team to make that Nunn + 2nd into a late 1st. Still wouldn't get us in the territory of the NY deal, but just curious to how much of a push we made. If we offered DJ and Baze, pretty sure we got hung up on.

We didn't offer anything but two 2nd rd picks. I really don't believe that we are trying to move Talen or Nunn, unless a deal we can't refuse pops up.

We can't take on salary without giving up salary in that ballpark. Players were offered. Just not sure who.

Unrelated to that response, but on the Cam trade: this was a big get for the Knicks and for the Zion to the Knicks train. They got another one of his collegiate teammates.

Yeah my assumption was just 2 2nds and Baze/DJ, with the FO holding out hope they could get Atlanta to bite on that and still convert THT/Nunn/2027 first into a high impact player too. Guessing they probably knew it was a long shot.

I like Reddish and would have loved to have stolen him for cheap, but not sure he currently moves the needle enough to get rid of our more valuable assets.

I'm not throwing in the towel, I still think that Nunn and AD coming back is a big deal.

Yeah, I like him a lot. I think for us to even make a play on him means our scouts really liked him coming into the league. Given the needs of this roster going after another kid doesn't make much sense. And that was my only hang up. As far as fit goes, I think he's a better fit than THT and think he'd be a lot better on this team than THT. I'd move THT for him, if THT wasn't our only avenue to improve. We have to get a higher impact now player. Trading one down the road guy for another doesn't help. That's why there's so much pressure this Grant rumor. He's the only real wing out there who fits what we need perfectly.

Yeah I’m at the same position I’ve been for a while. Not necessarily expecting any level of success from this team, but not ready to rule it out either.

Despite all the roster flaws, healthy Bron and AD is a force to reckon with. Not out of the realm of possibility that we get a bit of luck with seeding/injuries and make a deeper post-season run than a lot of us are anticipating.

Also totally within the realm of possibility that we never put it together and end up getting eliminated in embarrassing fashion in the play-in tourney.

    Swap Westbrook for Wall
    Grab Jerami Grant

I'm for chaos at this point.

Let’s face it. We’re likely stuck with Russ, THT and Nunn for the rest of season. Their value is too low. This is the hand LeGM, Rob and AD dealt us. Our only hope is seeing what’s available in the buyout market. Let’s hope Vogel and company can spark something inside of them to salvage this season.

I think Houston does the Wall trade, 2 less years.

Getting Grant? Likely would need to dump THT, Nunn and Reaves, for sure.

I agree with you, except for the notion that we are “stuck” with Nunn.

Obviously getting 0 production from him so far hasn’t been ideal, but I’ve always liked him. If he truly is on the verge of returning, I think he can help make a difference.

It seems most of us are just viewing him as contract filler for a potential trade, but he’s a good player. In a way, his injury might be a blessing in disguise. Even if he plays well for us, it may be a small enough sample such that he can’t demand a better contract on the open market. If he has no choice but to accept his player option, that’s a bonus for us in terms of our roster construction potential heading into the summer.

it was a bit of both, but i wasn't taking salaries into full consideration. seems like our offer was probably dj/baze/2 2nds, which...isn't great. i feel like if it was nunn/2 2nds, we might have gotten it done. depends on the value of the hornets 1st to atl, i guess, because knox really hasn't shown much. nunn, in theory, could have helped them this year, and that's what their gm seems to be wanting to do (get better now).

whatever, not a huge loss, imo.

feel like the grant smoke is real, but we may be used to up someone else's offer in the end.

as we've been saying, i'd rather we do nothing than something stupid like some of our recent deadline moves.

I like Grant and Trent. I know Trent doesn't fit the "big wing" narrative, but his combination of shooting skill and defense making him a very intriguing candidate. We were interested in Hield, but Trent is like a younger Hield, but a little more size and much better defense.

i'm on board with either of those, too. i could come up with some others that interest me, but THT's really murdered his value this year, so they may all be unrealistic. i've peeked at some of the other teams that are having disappointing years to see if they have guys i'd want, and it's slim pickings. do the magic move bamba because they just paid carter (though not much, so not a huge issue)? we could use a mobile center. would charlotte consider giving us pj washington if we took something they didn't want? what would that even be?

i don't know. probably best to sit out. i can just sort of feel the covington move in my bones and don't think it will work.

Yeah THT would of faired way better playing with Hield, instead of Westbrook. When you think about it, THT and Westbrook are similar players in terms of the way that like to score at the rim. Covington would be decent, but not for THT. So, probably not going to happen either.

I’m somewhat surprised at how much people have written off THT this year. Yes he hasn’t performed in the way we would have liked or expected but he’s still VERY young. The kid is going to get better whether it’s with us or another team in the future.

i don't think most are trying to give him away. i do agree that the fit with russ is very problematic, though, and i don't think we're getting rid of russ. again, reminds me of kuz situation.

There is no question that THT is a tremendous young talent. I mean, if we would of traded for Hield, rather than Westbrook, THT might have the starting PG spot by now, or just be making a better impact with more opportunities. His bread and butter is obviously taking it to the cup, but he is unfortunately not able to do this with the lane being clogged and all. I mean, we got a Westbrook taking 36 of the back court minutes, and he is mostly attempting lay ups. Then you have the AD'S and Dwight's of the world who are obviously not outside threats. There is just no room in there for THT to do his thing. He is going to be an awesome drive and kick type of guard in this league, but it's unfortunate that he is limited now. His perimeter struggles could also be a result of diminished confidence, with lack of opportunities, unclear role, etc. I would say his situation is more like a Brandon Ingram than a Kuzma. BI was never going to flourish with us, because he is obviously a point-forward type, much like Lebron.
