Mannix citing an unnamed NBA source. Not even a Laker source, an NBA source that says both Randle and the #2 are in play. He doesn't say they're in play together, but he says they're both in play.

I doubt it, but we'll see. What would the motivation for the Lakers be to trade both Randle AND the #2 for a guy who is already leaving? Doesn't make sense.

A lot of guys are saying there's likely to be movement on draft day moving up and down the draft... They say that every year, but still worth noting.

Well I definitely WANT to have Cousins on my team, but I'm in no rush to throw assets away to get him...

When you go to your local supermarket and there's food about to expire it's marked way down so they can get rid of it. Cousins is marked down food about to expire at your local supermarket... Why pay full price when he's only worth a fraction of it?

Mitch is too smart for that. I'm not worried about it anymore.

Let's try to get this thread back to the draft since there's already a thread for Cousins.

    Kobe as a good mentor:

"Kobe will be a good mentor. I text with Kobe in case the Lakers get Jahlil Okafor. No one's prepared any better to play than Kobe over the years. I hope that's something he would impart to Jah as well as the wisdom he's learned throughout the years."

    Kobe playing with Jahlil:

"I told Kobe that Jah will be a fun guy to play with. It's a big screen when he sets it you know? He knows how to pass out of the double with one hand. He gives up the ball, he's unselfish, and he just wants to win, Jah's all about winning."

    Jahlil's criticisms from the media:

"Everyone talks about Jah not being able to defend the ball screen, that is not accurate. We were the best defensive team in the country during the NCAA tournament. Jah can defend. I just didn't want to take him away from the basket because our next biggest PF was only 6'6. Jah can defend, he can do anything. He didn't shoot freethrows well but he has big hands, and comfortable hands. I expect his free throw percentage to go up."

    Coaching Jahlil experience:

"Jah is a joy everyday to coach. This kid has a great heart, he's a joyful heart. He'll be a high double-double guy in the pros. He's so gifted, he has feet and hands that you can't teach. His attitude is amazing. He's doubled and tripled teamed in college every game. He's the only kid in college basketball where every game plan of the other team was trying to stop him. With his footwork and touch, he's going to score a lot of points. Hopefully somebody will see that he is really the best player in the draft."

    What is Heisler on? :D

Towns is a full-size Center and Okafor is not? Okafor is less than half an inch shorter than Towns (assuming he hasn't grown AT ALL since 2013) BUT Okafor has longer arms. Oh yeah not to mention Okafor has a good 20 pounds on Towns.

I just do not get the angle that Towns is a full sized center while Okafor is undersized. Whenever they stand next to each other Okafor looks bigger to me. Plus he is 19 and likely still growing. Either way, with his skills he will be effective in a league that has precious few true centers. I used an old school comparison to how effective Wes Unseld was at 6'7" playing center against Wilt, Kareem, Lanier, Thurmond and held his own. Okafor is going to do fine.

Yeah I don't get the need there to tear down Jah to build up Towns. They're both Centers in the NBA.

This is all the first I've heard of Okafor being a pf and not a center. Dude weighs 270 freaking pounds and is 6'11". If that's not a center, especially in today's NBA, I'm not sure what is.

Here's a video of the two of them going at it at the Nike Hoops Summit. It feels a little Towns' biased, but you can see a few things from it:

    1. Towns plays with more energy than Okafor.
    2. Okafor is just as big as Towns if not bigger lol @Heisler
    3. When they're engaged they both battle well.

I'm sure that Randle and the #2 pick are actually in play. There are certainly deals out there that I am sure Mitch would pull the trigger on.

I just didn't think Cousins was it.

    How about this trade.....

Threaten to take Russell and offer Philly.....

#2 for #3 and change the protection to top 15 on our pick we owe them in 2016.

Risky if they take Okafor, but they really want Russell.

lol, so now okafor's too small to play center? a couple days ago, he was too big to play, period. i mean, THE FINALS!!11

i find it hard to believe that the lakers would leak that they think okafor's undersized on the eve of the draft.

Only possible reason IF this is a Lakers leak is to scare the Sixers into thinking that we may go Russell after all.
