Can't get these guys healthy. Not exactly a good look for our new training staff. Good thing The Duke is back. He and Monk will get more PT and then AB for any defensive assignments.
I mentioned this a bit earlier in his thread. Him and Monk played against one another in high school. Then they went to college and Monk went to Kentucky because of his shot and athleticism and Reaves got slept on and did 4 years. Just shows how important it is to learn to play the right way and with fundamentals. Caruso has a similar story and both benefited greatly.
Any word on when he'll be back: the lack of height and/or defensive prowess/toughness is something our other guards are struggling with. Reaves ability to stay in front of wings and have enough strength to disrupt the role man while being just taller then most of our other guards is missed
Lakers News: Phil Handy Believes Austin Reaves Can Be ‘A Special Player’ https://lakersnation.com/lakers-new...in-reaves-can-be-a-special-player/2021/11/21/ PS, I heard he is ready to come back asap
No definitive time given, other than 'imminent' at the end if the article. Looks positive though. It's been 10 days, so it's plausible. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...still-a-ways-away-with-foot-injury/ar-AAQYo84
That time of the month? I Keed .. I Keed .. I Keed! Long live the AD starts at the 5 with this roster of midgets debacle.
Wow Alex has been lurking and reading and agreeing with my posts. We love you Eagle!!!!! :THT Heart Hands: HA …. a little dig at the end (?), “Hopefully, he can stick around”. Yeah, no s***!! And this quote at the end of the short article from SS&R …. “It’s unfortunate that Caruso and Reaves weren’t able to share the court as teammates, but at least Reaves’ strong start to the season has made Caruso’s exit a little easier to stomach. Just kidding; it’s still really dumb!”
That's great. We're now only missing Ariza and Nunn. We're getting there. If we could stay healthy for a month, we might be able to develop some chemistry/team identity and get a win steak going.
Reaves coming back is very big. He is one of our only two way players. And I think Vogel already trusts him so he will see mins.
From frigid Chicago .... Eagle endorsed!!! Better than himself on offense coming out of college (even now [minus vertical game] per most of our eyes) and a "glue' guy who plays with his same intensity.
Not being a midget on defense like Ellington/Bradley/Monk is also helpful. Those 3 look small and play small on defense
And Reaves is almost 6'6" and conversely plays BIG. Just needs one more year of training for a little more mass. I'm hoping the hammy thing was caused by normal running / jumping stuff and not the fact he chooses to muscle with guys much bigger in the key area, blocking out or trying not to be moved on defense. He's got good sized legs already for his frame and those and his upper body can put on more muscle. Especially with AC in his corner apparently and hooking HbK up with his super soldier serum contact in Manhattan Beach. Awesome!
Quoted for truth. He's a good scorer, willing defender, just needs one good offseason and we're golden. Until we let him go to, say, Minny for $10M.
