Oh I hope it is. The guard positions are not of crushing importance currently. Waste of valuable money toward starting SF. But you know that. Mitch has to as well. I hope.

I'm sure Mitch is well aware of it. Have to admit I love the idea of having dual initiators on the court. I liked Lin and Clarkson playing together last year.

I am not advocating maxing out dragic, but given how much folks love Russell, imagine getting a prime version right now in FA and getting to draft a solid center. it's sort of the reverse scenario of say, maxing out marc gasol and drafting Russell. since gasol's an impossible FA target, the scenario in which the lakers pay dragic doesn't sound terrible.

at any rate, I'm going to be watching Miami's situation with interest. so far, "sources" are indicating that the FO is lowballing their top two FAs, and their next best player after them has an opt out and plays a position of need for the lakers.

    Interesting.

    C - Okafor
    PF - Randle
    SF - Kobe
    SG - Wade
    PG - JC

Formidable. I'd rather have Carroll at SF and Kobe at SG for the D+3 he brings, and Wade's age and health issues, BUT, with him we immediately become relevant again. Certainly an option that has to be considered. It also makes us more attractive to a potential FA next year.

I just can't imagine a scenario in which Wade OR Kobe is healthy all year, let alone both.

The way I figure it is that potentially between Wade and Kobe they could combine to play a full regular season.

If any chance Lakers do get wade. I like that because both of them would actually give each other rest throughout the season and lessens the chance for injuries

Between them I'd say the over/under would be set at 110 games total.

I think Wade has an over inflated sense of what he should be paid at this point in his career. I'd pass...

I think he deserves a great paycheck in Miami. I don't know that he deserves a great paycheck here.

I'm intrigued but I also hate Wade and I don't like Kobe playing the three long term...

Seems like a weird fit but the kind of move that the Lakers would make.

I don't blame him at all for wanting to get paid. He has never been the highest paid Heat player ever in his career and had sacraficed a lot. I don't feel bad for him either. If you want to win and have a bunch of good players on your team you better take a pay cut

The problem with Wade is health. It's been a problem since 2011. However, his numbers last year were efficient through 62 games. If I remember correctly, he played really well toward the end of the season.

But then this is the equivalent of paying $40M to someone for a season's work.

I get it. I think the Lakers give it serious consideration, though. If they strike out in free agency, I think they offer Wade a 1+1 type of a deal. Nevertheless, I would pass, but if there are no better options on the table, they (Lakers) might take a chance.

Right, his 3 point % is atrocious. However, his career FG% is at 49%. He'll know how to attack defenses and get his production fairly efficiency. I'm not too worried about that; it's the I'm one injury away from breaking down completely that I'm afraid of, and that's why we have to mitigate the risk if we sign him.

    1+1 year does that.
