How about going in an extra year? Maybe something like 4 years 24 million?

bad luck in that, genetically, he doesn't possess the eye-hand coordination to be a full-time nba pf?

Well I said 4/22-24 million lol so yes I'd do that.

But I'm not going all the way up to 7-10 million for him.

Didn't see that. Truth be told, I'd rather have Davis back than Young here for the next 4 years...

We'll see how much he really wants to come back. Feel free to ask for $8m from anyone else, but the loyalty discount shouldn't top $6m. You want long term security, I'm fine with that but for around trd's figures.

I don't necessarily disagree, but unless you can find someone who will take on Nick's contract for nothing then we're stuck with him. Basically unless we can attach him with our #27 for another pick, he's ours.

And the way I hear it, most people don't even want the #27 at all anyway.

am I the only one who doesn't hate young? in the right role, I think he could be worth his contract again, quite easily.

Nope I definitely dont mind if we keep him another year. With his contract and ability to heat up quick you want someone like that. I also think if we start winning more games he'll really be a great player for this team. Every year he's been with us we have sucked. I think the winning which hopefully starts to happen next year will do wonders

I've never wavered in my desire to keep Young with the team. He's a perfect 6th man off the bench that can create his own offense at a great price.

The only reason I'd trade him is to upgrade the roster. I wouldn't salary dump him.

I like Nick :) Just wasting time throwing around ideas and hypotheticals until we know what happens on Draft day.

Even if I wanted to trade him being how friendly his contract is, that along is a reason to keep him another year at least

I don't want Nick back. I'd get rid of him in a heart beat. Chances are him and Scott will clash again at some point and Nick will probably be gone by the trade deadline.

Judging from how his relationship ended with Byron last year, I see him dropping his spot on our depth chart rapidly as the season progresses.

not a shocker. it would behoove both team and player for a lot of these young upper-middle tier players to sign long term max deals under the current cap structure. I expect the same for tobias harris and draymond green. I think your jimmy butlers are where it starts to get more complicated on the player's side. I don't think any of the three I mentioned above are at risk for losing money long term if they sign max now, as they wouldn't fetch more when the cap goes up. but a guy like butler (two way guy at a weak position league-wide who's shown ability to be a #2 scorer) could maybe fetch more next year.

I'm not convinced Orlando matches on Harris. They've threatened to do it, but around the league basically everyone thinks they're bluffing. They've got young guys they're more apt to build around I think.
