great block there, and great that the refs didn't call a foul. he went straight up and green jumped into him. wish the refs got that call right more often--blocked shots can be fun to watch, too. less fun than dunks but more fun than FTAs.
Pretty incredible stuff from Melo. I knew he could still score but I never dreamed he could turn the clock back that much. Dude's aching for a championship.. I hope he can maintain without injury.. never know!!
What a scorer! This is so great to see. Who knows how this season is going to go - but if we make it to the WCF, Melo is going to be the hungriest person on the court. There's no way he doesn't give his all to try and win the ring. In any case, I'm a fan.
love hearing that vogel says he's getting the defensive rotations. if we can play him without getting killed by the good offensive teams, it changes outcomes for us. he's still a fearsome scorer in spurts, and we need that, but we can't give it all back.
Killing it! I knew he'd be instant offense, but wasn't expecting this. Even if it's not sustainable, I wasn't expecting THIS level at any point.
Highest efficiency of his long career. That is just incredible. And look at his shooting motion, the way his whole body moves - it is so consistent! It's like looking at a .gif loop almost. This is seriously 6MOTY level of play right there.
yeah, when he gets to just step in, it's a dangerous situation. lebron finding him on a lot of those. need to find ways to get closing lineups with AD/lebron/melo on the floor.
I remember watching pre season workout videos where like 5 players all shoot a 3 from the same spot one after another, and thinking “Oh… so that’s what a true shooter looks like?” when I saw Melo shoot. I’m no shooting coach, but years of watching games will give some insight. Melo’s form is noticeably smoother than most I’ve ever seen. Ellington is smooth too, but Melo’s form and motion is just so consistent it stood out from the rest for me. Perfect bend of the knees. Perfect follow through. It’s a pleasure to watch
the man was out of the league for over 1 year because teams were convinced he could never be catch and shoot guy and role player. started working on his catch and shoot at 34, and is now becoming elite at it at 37. that is incredibly inspiring... the vast majority of guys who've made 250M+ in the league like him would never bother to learn a new skill while getting paid vet mins
He said something like that last night in his on court interview after the game. Still loves playing and is always trying to add to his game and get better.
You don’t become a top 10 NBA scorer of all time without knowing how to score. It was quite disrespectful how the media and fans that only started watching after 2015 talked about him. Like I said before I hope we win a championship for him and he comes back to try and repeat. Would be a perfect way to cap a 20 year career.
