Oh for sure. It’s not his fault that Boston screwed him over.

I heard the interview and I think Jeannie is playing the role of good soldier here because there was many reports that Stern gave Dell Demps authority to make any trade he could and not only that but Cuban and Gilbert never mentioned being behind closed doors when the trade happened when they were going through their b****fests about how unfair the trade was and how much money the league was losing cause the Lakers just lowered their cap.

Also when the Lakers pulled out of the trade completely we still had Odom, he wasn't traded the same day the deal fell apart. He was traded a week later. Mitch had to make an appeal to Stern and the NBA but that was rejected and even after Stern vetoed the deal there was still a couple of days where the Lakers were trying to get draft picks to keep the deal alive.

All this is bull, I remember in 2014 when Lowe was on Simmons podcast and he had said alot of the GM's and teams were extremely happy that the Lakers were gonna be one of the worst teams that year.

The veto was one of the most unfair actions a league did to any team in the modern sports era, it not only destroyed the trade value of Odom and Gasol but it put us in the lottery and out of the playoffs for 6 seasons but the absolute worst thing the veto did was deny us of watching 2 all timers playing on the same team at the same time with Bynum still up for grabs in a trade.

i'll never stop whining about this and the 2006 finals. both just absolute travesties clearly orchestrated by the league to bring about desirable outcomes.

Any player that chooses not to get vaccinated is going to have a very rough year. I wonder if they had covid and have natural immunity if that will change anything or not.

NBA memo proposes strict COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players

Unvaccinated NBA players will have lockers as far away as possible from their vaccinated teammates and will have to eat, fly and ride buses in different sections as part of the league's anticipated COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The protocols were released to teams Thursday in a memo obtained by ESPN.

The rules are not final and subject to ongoing talks with the National Basketball Players Association, but the guidelines make it clear that vaccinated and unvaccinated players will have very different off-court experiences during the upcoming season.

Unvaccinated players will have to undergo testing on game days and practice days and, depending on team schedules, could have to test twice on some game days. Vaccinated players will not undergo daily testing and will only be tested if they have symptoms themselves or are exposed to someone confirmed as COVID-19 positive.

If an unvaccinated player is deemed a close contact to someone who has tested positive, he will have to enter a mandatory seven-day quarantine. Vaccinated players are not currently anticipated to face quarantine if they are a close contact but don't test positive.

At team meals, the memo calls for unvaccinated players to not sit next to vaccinated teammates and to be at least six feet away from others. The same rules apply for team meetings.

On flights, the memo says unvaccinated players may be required to be in a section of the plane reserved for team staffers, which could mean less-roomy seating. On buses, unvaccinated players would have to sit away from other players or in a separate bus from vaccinated players.

The NBA informed teams last week that all coaches and staff members, in addition to game night staff that work within 15 feet of players or referees, must be fully vaccinated. Also last week, the NBA and the referee's union announced an agreement for all referees to be vaccinated.

Thursday's memo also said the league hopes to secure an agreement with the union that would call for all players to be tested for COVID-19 antibodies as part of the preseason physicals.

Unvaccinated players who have documented recovery from COVID-19 within the previous 60 days may have some of the protocols relaxed, pending final approval.

You should be good with the natural antibodies or at least much lower chance to get again? What have you read on that? I know some have contracted a 2nd time but not the %. Did anything hang on for you? Will also accept eff off none of my business. :D But I remember back in the pre vax days you talking about how rough it was for awhile. Just curious and feel still the need to mask certain situations and be careful even though had the Pfizer, and some people still catch. Hopefully though kept from severe symptoms.

interesting that the players union is basically the only one that didn't just come to an agreement on a vaccine mandate (seems like refs and coaches all agreed).

i really wonder what % will hold out, given all this. honestly, team owners should care because actually getting the disease impacts team performance. i saw an article talking about how healthy dallas was last year in terms of injuries, but i was like--half the team was out and/or recovering from covid for the first part of the season, and it really put them in a hole.

if players were wearing shoes that increased the likelihood of lower leg injuries, you'd want to chat about it, right?

edit: i also wonder if the reason for the players union not capitulating might have to do with some very high profile/influential players (*cough* lebron*cough*) being hesitant.

Based on the Mavs limited moves this summer, I figured this would happen once TOR realized they can't flip him for anything.

yeah, dallas has been operating as if this was inevitable, but it would be very on-brand for them to be left out in the cold after toronto traded him elsewhere, lol.

I really hope nothing medically happens to him on the court.
