he had a bad playoff series, for sure. but having the coach pile on and management not fix this both internally and externally is at morey's feet, imo. they never really pushed back on the narrative that simmons was their main problem and allowed him to get scapegoated. and they clearly didn't do damage control behind the scenes, either.

and i promise you portland's gm does not appreciate morey leaking that he's just waiting to get his hands on lillard.

As long as Anthony Davis and LeBron James stay healthy, the Lakers look like the favorites to win the West. But it's unclear their offseason moves improved their chances of getting back to the NBA Finals after last season's first-round exit. In Russell Westbrook, the Lakers added a singular talent to help carry the load during the regular season, but they'll have to work around his shooting limitations in a playoff setting.

The Lakers did well to replace the depth lost in the Westbrook trade with a series of veterans minimum signings as well as the value pickup of Kendrick Nunn using the taxpayer midlevel exception. Still, the Lakers don't have as many reliable two-way contributors around their stars as in 2020, when Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Danny Green played those roles during their title run.

 

So if we win it all, Lakers will be over achievers, right?

that's some world-class hedging, and they've apparently all agreed not to hold each other to account for it. if they sucked last year and their offseason sucked, you can't wave your hands at it and still predict them to win the west.

Didn't Danny Green basically shrink in the playoffs and suddenly forget how to shoot when he played for us? Pelton must not watch the games..

 

it was unfair that the lakers got to stack the deck with three superstars. any team would have traded three role players for russell westbrook, but the opportunity wasn't available to them! also, joe harris was playing on a sprained ankle or something.

I hate to bring it up but I remember it was so bad he started to receive death threats which is absolutely awful but goes to show how bad he was in the Finals especially. He wasn't that bad in the first couple rounds

 

Death threats after that missed 3 when we could have won it al in the Kobe Mamba jerseys. Cherry on top of a bad playoff shooting performance.

 

If that wasn’t bad enough, he wasn’t 100% healthy, which impacted his play.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, his wife received death threats too. His wife. How the f*** does all that crap NOT affect any normal person?

I didn’t like his play that post season, but I could never get with all the b******* Laker fans were dumping on him. So unfair.
