They didn’t force him to play in the playoffs, but they sure did encourage it and made it seem like he’d be a hero of Boston if he did and they’d look after him whatever happened.

His sister passed away and he suited up and left it all out on the court. Told them he’d have to have surgery on his hip and would take 4-6 months to make a full recovery. And they didn’t offer him a contract, they traded him to the Cavs and he was forced to play on one leg to secure a contract. The following season he signed for the minimum with Denver.

This is the guy that turned their organisation around from 25-57 to 53-29 and averaged 29/6 with the highest 4Q scoring in the league. They didn’t even offer him a contract.

There’s a reason why Kawhi sits out whenever he has an injury, he saw what organisations do to injured players. So even though we give him flack for it, he’s smart for doing it.

That’s where the Lakers get to differentiate themselves a bit.

Acknowledging I’m on a Lakers forum, but I would trade anyone on this team for Luka I’m a heartbeat. Yes that includes Lebron and AD.

Luka is destined to be the next face of the NBA.

the kid's got talent and heart... but he thrashes his body and limps half the time... he won't see the age of 30 (on court, that is) at this rate.

So no Giannis, no Luka, who is going to replace Lebron now.

absolutely, and thanks for the extra perspective (i wasn't sure they didn't offer a contract).

also, this is why i thought kawhi should have signed with us. but maybe his feeling is that NOBODY will do that. i think we've shown we would.

possibly. but he's also a tank. i'd predict he lasts three more contracts. largely because, like harden, he doesn't leave the floor a lot. really reduces injuries.

i always left the floor. *sigh*

probably nobody--or someone we haven't seen yet. or, actually, still luka. we're seeing simmons about to leave philly one year into the contract. we just need to be ready.

There’s always options, Booker is an UFA in 2024.

Not a fan of Booker. People get enamoured with his offensive game because he learned a lot of Kobe's moves and moves with grace. But he isn't athletic, so he can be locked up, he is a rubbish defender (way worse the Westbrook) and for all the talk about his efficiency, he just isn't that good largely due to never making good on his 3 pt shot.

Booker is a good 3rd option or an average 2nd at best, masquerading as a 1st option.

those wanting luka (like me) see it as a long game. he wasn't going to not sign that contract. that's basically never happened. that's 200 guaranteed million when he's maybe made 10-15% of that so far?

the route is to be the team he demands the trade to. and i really do think that's going to happen (he's going to want out of dallas before this contract is up).

#C Bags have offered Dennis Schroder a one-year deal - at the taxpayer $5.9M MLE - per league sources. The current hold up for Schroder is twofold: He wants the full MLE - which is $9.5M - and also seeks a second-year player option. Boston doesn’t want to be hard-capped.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Boston exploring possible trades involving Kris Dunn and Bruno Fernando, which would potentially allow them to increase their offer to Schroder.

there was never any doubt that he truly loved being a laker

wish he could've become the guy we all thought he'd be after his rookie season. i feel like he'll shine in DC now that he'll be without the bright lights and pressure that comes with playing for the lakers
