Bradley was playing well in Miami before he got injured. I’m not going to consider his stats in Houston at all. They were tanking hard and just overall a terrible team. His numbers are of course going to look worse in a situation like that.

I think Bradley would be a good signing to replace some of the guard defense we’ve lost with Caruso.

Assuming we don’t still have a home run hidden under our sleeves with a Schröder S&T, I’d go Melo, Mills, AB, Keef, THT to round out the roster.

    Westbrook / Mills / Horton-Tucker
    Ellington / Bazemore / Bradley
    James / Ariza / McKinnie
    Davis / Anthony / Morris
    Gasol / Howard

You can't use the TPE on a player. Would have to be a S&T

Damn, was counting on Gay. That 4 spot backup is looking thin. Melo is a liability in defense, who plays there in crunch time with AD at the 5?
Hope Millsap gives us a discount

Why wouldn't he be playing next to Russ? Caruso plays off guard more than point guard. Unless we're signing Hield, who on our roster would be playing off guard that's better than Caruso?

We are better off re signing Dennis for 1 year with a large contract and dangle him at the trade deadline as an expiring.

One thing to consider… is it possible that without Caruso’s salary and only minimum contracts signed so far, we do end up using the full MLE and hardcapping ourselves? I could be wrong, but I had thought the whole reason the hard cap was seen as not being viable was because we were assuming we were going to retain Caruso and THT?

I haven’t done the math, but perhaps now we could use the full MLE, bring back THT on a reasonable deal, and still have enough wiggle room to round out the roster with minimum contracts.

If that was the case, is there anyone out there that would justify the full MLE other than maybe DeRozan (and at this point, that fit makes even less sense)? Maybe splitting the full MLE ends up allowing us to add a little bit more to our offers for Mills and Melo.

EDIT: A cursory look at the math, and I think this is still not viable. Nevermind.

I'd rather have George Hill than Bradley. Or Danny Green...more height and Avery is also injury prone.

To avoid getting nothing, sure. But not for team chemistry. His demands to start all year and then choking against the Suns was too much for me. Addition by subtraction - despite some decent play for a stretch last season.

I've been watching the salary cap so far with the same idea in mind, with a caveat, If Schroder can be moved in a S&T a TPE received doesn't affect the cap or hard cap. So that would be preferred over using the full MLE. a double S&T with the Spurs for DeRozan? With Pop in the picture that seems unlikely, unless he pried Tucker in the deal. That's too much for Demar IMO. There are still some possibilities left though

Ellington, Mills, Bazemore? I mean Lebron is a pretty decent option at off guard next to Russ at the point isn't he? SMH..Caruso was a popular player and all but come on now.

Hate to say it but if we strike out on Patty we should bring back Dennis.

I hope we don't resign Bradley. Injury history and cant shoot from anywhere. Not to mention we lost him before we went into the bubble and barely missed a beat. Played better actually since Caruso took a lot of his minutes. But we lost Caruso for no reason so...

Would've been a good backup when AD comes out for a breather. Hard nose defender & can stretch the floor.

Dude, none of those guys you named are as good as Caruso. If they were they wouldnt be signing with us for the minimum or mini MLE. What is our current crunch time starting 5? AD at center, Lebron at pf/point forward, Westbrook at pg...then what? IF we sign Mills (which we haven't yet) I suppose he starts at one guard spot, but we'd be tiny in the backcourt. Who plays sf? This team is not well constructed.
