they may try to get cute with a contract, but remember that his big balloon payments would come after russ's contract expires.

We still need some bigs to eat up the regular season minutes at Center position. AD is at this best as a small ball C but I would rather preserve that for the playoffs.

Whiteside wouldn't be a bad option

Derozen tends to turn an open 3 into a contested mid range

Who will the Lakers target with the 5.9 million TMLE?

Danny Green, Reggie Bullock, Doug McDermott, Otto Porter?

I think Danny Green would be the best choice. He is a career 40% three-point shooter, and he hits a solid volume of threes. He makes 2.6/6.3 per 36 minutes. For his career, 64% of Green's attempts were from three. So he knows what his job is. In addition, Green attempts 37% of these threes from the corner and converts 53% of those. Green is also a good free-throw shooter, at 81%. Green is still a very good defensive guard, and he is also a good transition scorer. Lastly, Green helped us win a championship before.

This is also why if DeRozen is willing to come for the MLE, you just have to do it.

He is a imperfect fit but he’d be by far the best MLE signing talent wise for the entire league lucky enough to get him for that price. The condition is if rumours are true, that means only the Lakers are lucky enough to be this fortunate.

I get what you are saying. He could be utilized in a trade later if needed. But even DD himself needs to look at the Lakers roster and see that he would not fit.

My point is how contested will his looks be when you consider who else is on the court with him?

I think Wes Matthews is quicker, stronger and more of a bulldog on defense ... and can shoot the ball every bit as good as Green. HELL NO to bringing back Danny effing Green. Wes is already here for vet minimum. Get an impact player with the taxpayer MLE.

Folks. The guy who just won the title can't shoot 3s and can't hit free throws. Enough of the 3 point crap. The only reason why we are still talking about 3 point shots is the entire basketball culture still has PTSD from the Warriors run. Warriors run was an outlier.

The Lakers and Bucks won titles the last two years with crappy shooting. You don't freaking need it when you have players who can score on anyone that's guarding them.

No way we use DD in a trade later if he takes a cut in pay to come here. That would be a terrible look for our organization. We aren’t the Clippers.

Late to this, and I realize DeRozan can’t shoot threes, but man, if he’s willing to take the MLE, how do you turn that down? That’s 4 all-stars on the roster. Maybe you just largely stagger minutes and it allows LeBron to rest a lot more while Westbrook and/or DeRozan are out there scoring and making plays. The fit as a starting lineup is extremely questionable, but maybe you take talent over fit and figure it out, I dunno.
