I don't see any universe in which he's back. He was pissy with his role last year. Even if money wasn't an issue, no way he's accepting the limited role behind Russ and Bron. And if we're keeping AC, gotta play him too.

It would be nice if we can include him in this or something else to get something back (won't know for a week). But at this point, he's addition by subtraction. Good riddance. Wish I could've seen his face and his agent's face when we netted Russ because we were the only team that was going to overpay for him if we lost out on everyone else.

was referring to no fear of hard cap—means accepting s&t, which means one of those two probably won’t fit. We’re not there, though—and I bet we don’t go there.

If all the pieces fall into place this could be really exciting. I find myself wondering how good could RW be in a Vogel defense? There is a ton of chatter out there ripping us for this trade saying that RW sucks on D and cannot shoot. I think the Lakers are going to be an extremely different situation for him with two superstars of absolute known quantity. He is going to try harder to fit in than ever before. He also knows that our number one skill is defense, so if he could come in and run the offense, get lots of assists and play the best D of his life, my guess is that it will work. But I am banking on Pelinka lining up some shooters to fill out the roster. If we get Hield and another shooter or two, I am going to be thrilled.

i'm on board with whatever it takes to get DS off this team. last thing they need is a locker room cancer

if they can somehow get hield for him, that'd be amazing. but i'd be surprised if that happens

What happened according to Eric Pincus

    And what could still happen...
I've mentioned Ellington. Think he's a viable option for the min as a shooter.

If you can bring in Ellington and Melo then bring back Wes, I think you're covered on the perimeter.

I'd gladly take McDermott or Bullock, but I think they're too expensive.

I offer DD our MLE for s***s and giggles. There's no way he takes it, but let's go ahead and cross that off the board. Supreme talent over shooting if you can land that one.

As I said, I'd also offer a Millsap the MLE. Don't think he'll take it, but I think we can get one of our free agents or former guys back: Drumm, Dwight, McGee, or Boogie.

I don't expect any of my homerun swings to take our MLE (didn't expect to land Russ either, though), so I'm not sure what I do with it.

This roster is going to be impressive. That I'm certain of.

Is outside shooting over rated? Yes we need outside shooting like we need defense, rebounding , ball movement etc.. The Warriors were anomaly with 2 of the greatest shooters of all time in their back court. The Lakers, Bucs and Raps won rings in the last 3 years, did they have elite out side shooting? We need out side shooting no doubt, I'm sure Pelinka will bring some in, but I really like the Westbrook move, he"ll bring a more all around game which this team lacked, intensity, aggressiveness, physicality, triple double machine, gives us another play maker for others.

Few things are more interesting than a Rob led Lakers off- season. And you can't exactly share it/ discuss it with yourself.

    Melo is cooked on defense.

But as I said before, I don't mind him.

Eh, I hear you, I don’t really want him on the roster either.

But say the musical chairs of free agency leaves Schröder without a big offer and we have the option to bring him back at something like $50M/3 years, I think you have to do it. Again, the point is that he would be a tradeable asset, not a long-term piece, and his signing wouldn’t prevent any other signings (ie, we wouldn’t be hard capped, so it’s not like signing him means less money for Caruso/THT)

Now if he’s demanding a lot of money or would cause chemistry issues with a reduced role, then of course not. But there is a scenario there where losing Schröder is subtraction by subtraction, and it benefits us to retain an asset if possible.
