How on earth you have to add any piece to trade one of the best all time?

Lebron for Dame is not a bad deal on the court for a 1-2year run IMO. But the Lakers will take a huge PR hit long run if they do that

And besides Portland has a lot of young pieces and way more cap flexibility, they can build a championship contender roster if they end up with Lebron

and i really want to again stress that lebron and AD are still more valuable players than lillard. i know he's exciting and a devastating offensive force, but it's not like he's delivered rings left and right. the way people talk about him, you'd think we'd be trading for prime michael jordan. he's consistently a minus defender, and it mitigates his dazzling offense to some degree. and he's 31 and a guard. it's quite possible he crashes physically at the same time lebron does, tbh.

Alright Rob, time to convince Utah that Kuz is a significant upgrade over Bojan.

lol. utah is in a weird spot, though. how much can you pay conley with his age and injury history? they're going to blast through the luxury tax even if they signed him for MLE-level money (which isn't happening).

Also in the article, word is they're trying to move Favors.
He really underperformed. They can find what they gave him this past year on the vet min market. But to get a team to take him, I'm guessing they might have to include Ingles' since he'll be on an expiring deal. That would clear up $22m (depending on what they bring back in a deal), which gives them the breathing room with Conley's next deal. But I'm with you on his age and injuries. They almost can't afford to pay him or to lose him. Short deal with a lot of outs?

Lakers need a 3rd star. Anything else is a lateral move.

Lakers could win it all with this team next year IF THEY ARE HEALTHY.

The 3rd star covers injury issues through the 82 game regular season.

dallas has a chunk of space that no FA will take and a need for a secondary playmaker and a credible dirty work center type.

yeah, a two-year big money deal for conley makes some sense, but again, do they have to shed 25 million to make that make sense? are they still good if they do that? a longer, lower-money deal is probably enticing, but then you're on the hook for a very old conley, when even a young conley was never healthy. i don't envy their position, though i think their disappointing finish to the playoffs may make it easier to sell a very different squad to fans next year.

tbh, they should be looking to move gobert to whomever is dumb enough to want to pay him nearly 40 million per for the next four years. you read that right.

I think Joe Ingles might fit the Lakers better. He is a better playmaker than Bojan while still being a 3 point threat. Ingles is pretty much what Luke Walton would have been as a player if he reached his potential lol.

So if the rumours are true that the Lakers are looking for another playmaker, it may actually work out better if we had both Ingles and kept Schroeder. Let’s face it, there’s no better alternative available to the Lakers at the point guard spot than keeping Schroeder.

At least having Ingles on the roster gives that threat of multiple ball handling playmakers with Lebron/Schroeder/Ingles.

The passing on offense would actually be really good if we had a starting lineup of Schroeder/Ingles/Lebron/AD/Gasol.

I also think that would be our best 3 point shooting lineup too.

Adelman was a great coach. The league changed a bit by the time he got to Minny and whimpered out of the league. But had the pesky Queens playing great ball. Horry is why Webber and that crew went ringless. That also reminded me of Bobby Jackson. I wonder if he and Troy Hudson (Minny) still send Fisher money for the contracts those two got because of him.

But they went from that to abysmal. They haven't cracked 40 wins/ playing .500 basketball since 05-06 (8 seasons with fewer than 30 wins). That's really an impressive feat to sustain that level of awful.

yeah, they let adelman go (and he overachieved in houston after that, right?), and then geoff petrie turned into a pumpkin or something. they had a run of great trades and draft picks and just really sensible roster building, and then everything just blew up. never recovered, maloofs got cheap then sold to the guy who's too hands-on without the appropriate knowledge.

I hated the Kings then. Everyone in LA did. Doug Christie, Mike Bibby... A great story I heard a member of the King's FO tell some years ago was that back after the Kings lost to us in 2002, well team FOs often get bonuses for winning conf finals and nba finals. This Sac exec (I forget who, maybe an asst GM) named the roof on his house the "Horry roof" because he had planned on reroofing his home with the bonus money after the King's "won" the finals.

I still watch vids of that shot, it just makes me warm and fuzzy. And one of my favorite things is that former Laker Vlade (who later called it "just a lucky shot" gets credit for the assist.

    Always worth a rewatch:

kings were definitely easy to hate (christie...omg, brad miller in the later iterations...), but that was a high quality opponent.

i don't think any team has put a more talented group of multi-tool offensive players on the floor in the 20 years since. their d never got there, and their top shelf stars weren't REAL stars, but they were fun to watch and tough to beat. those portland and SA teams were also quite good.

Lebron came here and changed the culture of the past 6-7 years. His being here got AD to join up as well and brought us 1 championship so far. He's been a great leader.

Even the suggestion that the Lakers organization would be so low-class and thankless as to do that shows little to zero understanding of this organization. I'm not sure what you could do to make this idea worse from a PR perspective. Oh yeah, throw in our only bright young talent. Wouldn't be surprised if Lillard asked the Lakers not to do the deal even. Would be the Hiroshima of PR moves.

The Kings squad was really good and annoying (Christie and his wife .. easily one of the weirdest dynamics I've seen in the league). I think that team would be even better in today's NBA. In particular,, Vlade, Webber, Peja, and Hedo would kill it. They had good defensive role players, but their best players weren't exactly good on that side of the ball.

However, I think the 00 Blazers were better. As far as 1-12, I've never personally witnessed a better/deeper team. I know the early Boston teams had 14 all stars, but that's easy when there's 6 teams and everyone has depth. They might not have had a superstar, but they were loaded at every single spot. Looking back on that roster, I'm not really sure how they pieced together that much depth.

    In other news...

I'd hard cap for Lowry, but not for Zo. Not for one second. You have to figure the asking price for Lowry is lower than it was at the deadline. The fact that we're even interested in entertaining the route tells me that Rob and Klutch have vets already on board with coming in for the min.
