L.A. Times is covering his exploits. No one’s ever done this before …. when Babe was a young great pitcher he wasn’t hitting lots of home runs yet for Boston. They came as a Yankee. Am guessing it’s a pretty big national Baseball media thing.
He’s my favorite non-Philly ever. Been following him since before he signed with LA. He’s so good. And so good for the game.
No baseball popularity hasn't collapsed but you are posting on a basketball forum lol. The Angels and Dodgers have been selling out..
The attention is there, but he plays for an unimportant, mediocre team, so the media coverage isn’t as great as if he were playing in LA or NY. Coverage would be bonkers if he were doing this with a good team at least. But yes, this guy is having an amazing season, and I can see why all of Nippon is going nuts. They love their baseball. Happy for him.
Thing is the team shouldn't be mediocre but like the Dodgers have been hit by the injury bug hard. Losing Rendon and Trout basically kills any type of hope of making the playoffs. You think Ohtani is having a good season right now, imagine having Trout and Rendon healthy and in that line up. Who do you pitch to? I feel bad for Trout and Ohtani, I think they could have been a playoff contender this year.
I don’t think Rendon was much of a difference maker this season. Batting avg, slugging, OPS were all very average or just meh at .240/.382/.712. But he’s overall a good player and could have heated up later in the season, so . . . But Trout though, oh mama. Imagine Trout and Ohtani protecting each other every day. Good lawd what a nightmare.
Rendons been playing hurt all year from spring training on. They finally figured out whats wrong with him and he's done for the season. He has something going on with his hips and when you can't rotate on your swing you're not gonna bat for average. Honestly hitting for what he did was a miracle. I'm not making excuses but he has had a legit hip injury all season and a recent MRI finally pinpointed what's wrong.
Nah, that’s no excuse—it’s a valid explanation. Didn’t know that about him. I just assumed it was a post-huge contract signing drop off in numbers. That hip injury changes everything.
