If Dwight plays we win that Phoenix series IMO. He would’ve punked old man Ayton.

 C'mon. I can accept it if so, but am I the only person who saw that resemblance?

Might be the only chance at the 3rd star that's attainable.

Rich Paul is Simmons agent....just saying. The kid is 24 years old, one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, the Western Conference has mostly perimeter scorers as the big guns. At 6'10 Simmons is the perimeter version of AD defensively.

i don't think philly would sell him that low, but i'd certainly take him.

if i was a junk franchise like sac or something, i'd be calling, like, today.

look for any team with a semi-star type who can play right now. honestly, SA could s&t derozan and add some goodies, and that might be ok for both teams.

chicago should kick the tires there. young/satoransky/aminu are all expirings that add up to about 40 million combined. markannen and coby white are both possible "centerpieces", but no draft assets hurts here. also, these aren't win-now players.

how about siakam? toronto has all their 1sts, too. that one makes a ton of sense, tbh.

I think if you pair him with lebron and AD, that would be a killer lineup. We just need him to facilitate and play defense.

We need shooting. Ben Simmons is the poster child for the opposite.

i'm really not a member of team "we need shooting" but i do understand why someone would be hesitant to add a complete non-shooter like simmons to our roster.

that said, he's really talented, and i am on team "collect talent and then figure it out". we're not getting him right now, so it's moot. but he'd be a good guy to look at, post-lebron, imo.

If I am the Lakers, I would start ringing Danny Green and Dwight Howard right now. Tell them you guys can make another run next season. Those two might take vet mins.... who knows? If we can get them both and re-sign Schroder/Caruso/THT and then use Trezz's $10 million MLE for another shooter, I like the Lakers chances... Even with Kuzma.

We don't necessarily need a shooting point guard. We would have a young facilitator and add a few shooters in the off season to come off the bench. If we have a lineup of Lebron, AD, Simmons, KÇP, and defensive center with a little offense, that is a great starting 5.

I actually don't think it would be that bad, honestly. You would have to stagger Ben's minutes away from Bron as much as possible so they both get an opportunity with the ball. For the regular season, Ben's lack of shooting wouldn't be much of an issue. Lakers just need to stay healthy and win enough games for a decent seeding. For the playoffs, if the game is close, AD will have to play the center and then you surround AD, Bron, and Simmons with two shooters which I would hope could be a duo of KCP+Green again. One thing Simmons does have to fix is his FT shooting. If he can't fix that, I don't know what can be done. He's gotta be at least a 65% FT shooter. You can't be shooting 35% from the FT in the playoffs.... Unbelievable. And Ben has to be more aggressive attacking the rim. If Giannis can get to the rim consistently, Ben, who is almost the same size but less athleticism, should at least be able to get there enough times. He plays too soft, honestly.

If Simmons is mentally weak playing for Philly, I wouldn’t think it’s going to get better under the bright lights of LA. The guy shot 35% from the line. This sub would be having a meltdown over that kind of number.

It’s not going to happen, but with Ben Simmons we could have one of the best defensive lineups in league history:

    AD / Bron / Simmons / KCP / AC.

I don't see the fit. He would be completely null with LeBron in the offense. You would literally have no position to put him when LeBron had the ball.

In post-Lebron era, he has too many flaws in his offensive game. Poor FT, bad shooting overall, plays with no aggressiveness when he can only score being aggressive.
He may explode if he goes to a franchise that will unleash him and play for him, but I would never take that risk. Not even if traded with KCP

Playing with Bron changes a lot of players mainly for a guy like Ben who looked up to Bron. I think playing and being with those Klutch guys will help Ben mentally. I just think it's difficult to forego Ben just because of his shooting. He's still a DPOY candidate and will be so for a long time. He was an NBA All-Star this season. He's got his problems but I don't think the Lakers would be giving up much if it's Kuzma+Schroder. Ben's ability to switch and guard 1-5 = Lakers small ball would be insane. LeBron+AD+Simmons+KCP+Danny Green? Problem is gonna be his FT's more than anything. He can't be afraid of attacking the rim or else his offense is completely a non factor.

I wouldn't give up Siakam, If am Toronto I would want to pair him with Siakim, sign and trade Lowry and add a 1st rd pick or two.

I personally think Kyrie for Ben Simmons would be a great trade for both sides.

Having more defense is always a good thing but we were #1 this past year so it’s not a weakness of ours but scoring certainly was. We were in the bottom 1/3 in 3 point shooting and Ben can’t shoot. The guy is talented in other areas but I think LA is a high pressure gig and I don’t think he’s the one. Especially at the money he is making.

Where did your sudden love for Danny Green come from? You didn’t like him last year but I keep reading about how you want him back.
