Anyone not named LeBron or AD is trade bait as far as I'm concerned... Would love to keep Caruso & Tucker, but we need a perimeter threat & play maker. Whatever it takes to get an All Star level Guard paired with LBJ & AD.
We keep LeBron and AD for sure. Everyone else could be potentially used in trade. I mean, that's realistic, isn't it? Now if you're asking who I'd like to keep: AC and THT, if the price is right.
yeah, i don't know how to answer the question. only lebron and AD are absolute must-keeps, and there's really nobody that i absolutely refuse to see back under any circumstances. closest would be schroder and drummond, but tbh, i'd take either back under specific circumstances (drummond on a vet min with no guarantee of starting, schroder on deal paying less than 17 and with no guarantee of starting). aside from the obvious (lebron, AD), i think you hope to keep guys who outproduce their contracts or are hard to replace at their price. to me, kcp really outproduced his contract this year. he was a very solid defensive wing who shot 40% from three. if he was a FA this summer, he might fetch 50% more than his current salary (maybe his playoff performance drags it down a bit, but he was hurt). assuming AC can be had for under MLE, you must keep him. when it starts creeping over that, it gets dicey. in each of these cases, it would be very difficult to find a comparable player for similar money. i'm not sure i can say that about anyone else. but again, i could make strong arguments for keeping all of them (kuz, gasol, THT, trez, even wes/mckinnie/morris). we were really good when healthy.
This. I’d probably add KCP as well. Fill out the rest of the roster with veterans with playoff experience and we’ll be fine.
Yeah I’d put KCP in the keep list. Only way I move him is in a package for a third star. He’s a good value player on his current contract. I’d also like to keep Wes and Morris on vets minimum contracts. Also wouldn’t mind holding on to McKinney on his current salary. AC & THT are keepers! The top of the dump list is Schroder. Goodbye.
Bron , AD , KCP and Caruso are keepers . THT can be part of a deal for a good player given the fact I highly doubt he will be playoffs ready before Bron declines. The problem is you will have to add KCP and/or Caruso in the package . Drummond , Kuz and Dennis should go ... in this order for me
Keep AD, Lebron, KCP, Caruso, THT, Kuz, Morris, Drummond, Mathews, (Harrell if he opts in) Schroder can go. Harrell can go if he opts out and wants a pay raise.
Ben Simmons as the point power forward with AD at the 5 in closing games could be tempting. I know it didn't work in Philly but his defense would be huge at the end of games and Lebron could feed him alley oops.
