It's fine. I don't mind him going over there as long as he gives the exact same answers he gave out here, Minny will know he's not their guy.

"I want to be part of a winning tradition"- Okafor
"Hm... Well... We've been to the playoffs a few times"- Flip

i love the part in Heisler's article about the Lakers hoping Towns falls to no. 2. Honestly, i think Okafor was our guy all along and once again, Mitch played everyone else like a fiddle.

I still have a feeling we could draft Russell. If I was betting, I'd bet Okafor without flinching. But Russell is a great player and fit as well. If we do draft Russell, you can bet we've established through back channels with Lopez, Gasol or DeAndre that they are signing with us. And we'll probably snag Upshaw at 27.

I believe we're drafting Okafor. On another note, Russell cancelled his workout with Philly; I think he's angling to get to New York.

Interesting. I know that was the city he wanted post lottery. After all the shuffling I think it'll be exactly what we were all thinking early this summer:

    Minny: Towns
    LA: Okafor
    Philly: Russell
NY: Mudiay (unless Phil melts down and picks Porzingis)

That's a bad move for Russell. I mean, Philly is still a pretty large market, and you have a chance to play with the player that should have won RoY in Noel and a skilled 7 footer in Embiid? Why would you angle away from a young Twin Towers situation to play with 31 year old Melo and Hardaway Jr.?

Oh wow I misread what you said. Angling for NY? Yikes. No thanks.

I was reading Pincus tweets. His understanding is ngoing into this process, the Lakers wanted Okafor all along.

A pick we should really keep an eye on is the Magic at 5. If they take Winslow, I think that gives us an opening to go after Harris since they'd have Aaron Gordon and Winslow playing the same position as Harris. I can't see them shelling out 13 million to Harris when they have two dudes on rookie contracts at the same position. Only think that worries me about Harris are his ankle. I read he's had some issues with it in the past. Nothing crazy, but tweaked it a few times. But if Winslow inexplicably goes 5 to the Magic (they should go after WCS, a perfect fit next to Vucevic), we should consider making a hard play at Harris.

I saw WCS listed as 7'1" yesterday or the day before. Maybe Harris needs some of the velcro banded ankle support shoes like Curry now wears. He had a couple seasons with worse ankle problems. If he can play PG with his game and those shoes then Harris (and lots of other players) ought to be able to pull it off as well. Their ankles would thank them. I'm always surprised when I see a player's low cut pop off his foot and then he just shoves the foot back in like it was a comfortable slipper and continues to play. Dumb de Dumb Dumb.

It was just revealed that Russell cancelled his workout/meeting with PHI because he is sick, not because he's trying to drop to NY or because he got a promise from LAL or MIN.

Yeah, I knew he was either sick or hurt. No way a LA or Minny makes a promise to take him. Trying to force his way to NY wouldn't work because Philly doesn't care if you work out for them or not. They took Noel and Embiid without them coming in for a workout.

Trying not to get my hopes up for Okafor, Heisler isn't helping me.

I'd fault the media if this is just about illness. that should have been easy to sniff out, imo. and it would be a reschedule, not a cancellation.
