Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure how he does it.

I hear Bron is recruiting him.

I was just going to mention Zeke. I have no qualms with steph at 2, but zeke woulda been a monster in this soft, no D, chucking 3s era.

losing LMA won't really make a difference for the nets in the long run

if they meet the lakers in the finals, LMA probably wouldn't have been a factor at all considering how well drummond played against him. jordan is far more valuable to them

good for LMA that he caught it before it took him out. iirc, he had a scare like this earlier in his career, right? it's not worth it.

this will be an incredibly unpopular opinion, but i think cp3 is probably the second best pg of all time. and if i didn't choose him, i'd probably pick stockton.

CP3 has a legit argument for #2 with one glaring issue: playoff resume'. He is a truly great player who only ever made his teams significantly better but could never get over the playoff hump, let alone the championship hump.

Stockton also has a strong case as the far and away assist leader and a truly tough team leader. Same issue though regarding rings. I'm a little more lenient for him since he got as close as possible during the Jordan / Pippin era. But, Stockton never took over games the way Steph, Zeke and Cp3 could.

Having watched all of them closely, if you gave me my choice as my lead guard, excluding Magic, I think I would have to take Steph in a close call over Zeke, then CP3, then Stockton.

For me, it's Magic, Steph, CP3, Thomas, and then I don't think you can go wrong with Stockton, GP, J.Kidd, Big O, or Nash. Steph's ability to open up the floor is just surreal. That type of scoring threat never existed until he showed up... Just absurd this guy can shoot a 27 footer and it's a normal shot for him.

I wonder if it actually ends up benefiting them. Bringing in a player of Aldridge’s stature off the buyout market, I’m sure a rookie head coach might feel obligated to give them some significant playing time even if he’s not the best fit in certain matchups. Like you said, against us, it probably makes more sense to play DJ more.

On the flip side though, it’s difficult to assess because we’ll never have been able to see all the firepower from the Nets together. For example, maybe if you could have thrown Aldridge out there with Kyrie, KD, and Harden, there are just so many weapons out there that it makes up for the lack of size and defense. Aldridge feasting off the pick and pop and other easy buckets from all the attention the superstars draw.

that's fair. i still think cp and stockton are better pgs. curry's struggled to carry the load when he was the lone star. we don't have data on stockton there, but cp dragged bad teams to good and is doing so right now, actually.

Steph plays the 1 but he's really a 2 so it's weird comparing him to pure PG's like CP and Stockton. As a pure basketball player, I'd rate Steph over those two by quite a bit.

Actually the one guy who I actually think was in Curry's league was Jerry West. I watched his whole career, the man could shoot with the best of them. If he played in this league, with no fouls and a 3 point line, when you talked about GOATS he would be in that conversation.

Of course, that would ONLY put him in a tie with Steph, who I think is the second best PG of all time but to me, when you are talking about PG's, Magic is still the best. Steph is a hybrid, more of a shooting guard. That is what makes me think about West as a comparison because he was a hybrid as well. Was often called the SG but I always thought of him as the PG. He controlled the game, always.

irregular heartbeat is the most complex reason I've ever seen anyone use to say "get me out of here"

The Nets must really be a mess internally if guys are using medical issues and retiring.

Seriously hope he's ok though. Might have been his best chance in his career at a chip, so walking away means this really hit him hard. Glad he has family that wants him to stick around and he cares more about than basketball.

    another star player injured

it's almost like having a historically short offseason after a historically long season wasn't a good idea
