?

How do you feel about a potential Finals matchup with the Nets assuming both teams are healthy?

  1. Very confident, the Nets won’t be able to matchup with our front line.

Lakers obviously just added Andre Drummond, Nets added LeMarcus Aldridge after adding Blake Griffin a few weeks ago. Assuming both teams are healthy just looking ahead to a potential Finals matchup how would you guys feel about matching up with them?

To me our best chance would be just dominating them with our front line, which assuming AD is healthy I’d expect that to be the case. Drummond, AD, and Harrell should be able to and must impose their will on Brooklyn’s front line.

The biggest question would be if we’re gonna be able to slow down all of the fire power the Nets have on the perimeter. LeBron and KD would probably cancel each other out IMO, but that still leaves us having to slow down Kyrie and Harden.

Eyebrows were raised when the Nets added Blake Griffin and LeMarcus Aldridge, but you could make the argument both players have more question marks considering their defensive flaws.

Brooklyn obviously has so much firepower offensively not just with their three stars, but they’ve surrounded those guys with great shooting. My one question with the Nets is whether they’ll be able to get crucial stops in the playoffs to win it all.

Right from my hip since adding Drummond and knowing if healthy what a defensive jugglarknot we’re going to be (one of the all time greatest[?]) ..... bring em on. I fear no one. Pumped!

    not good

i just don't see anyone stopping kyrie, harden, and durant at full health. their bench is stacked, and on top of that, they have great 3 pt shooters in harris and shamet

obviously anything can happen, but i just don't see anyone stopping them

Getting a perimeter defender like Bradley back would help.

Or bigger wing capable to make bigger opponent wings work for their points. But yeah I remember first game with Dallas last year and AB all up into much bigger Luka made it pretty uncomfortable for him for awhile at least. We have waves of guys to do that.

Basically, we're not able to outgun them and we should not even think about getting cute since they have so many scorers. The way to beat them is to outhustle and outmuscle them. Play tough, defensive kind of basketball that wins championships. Of course, the refs need to let us play like that. I think we can do it if everyone is 100% healthy. They also need all three stars healthy. If they don't have them, they will lose. Might not even make it to the finals IMO.

I feel slightly confident, but I'd prefer to sign one 3&D player to throw at their perimeter guys... you know, someone who actually can hit the 3 from time to time.

Your concerns are valid this team is very similar when it comes to offensive firepower to the Warriors when they had KD, Steph, and Klay together as they dominated the league for 2-3 years.

I don’t think they have great depth, however after they traded some key pieces in the Harden deal. Aldridge and Griffin may help in that regard, but there is no way they can play those two together significant minutes because of their defensive issues.

if the Nets are healthy and shooting at their normal percentage, no one's stopping them. It won't matter if our interior defense is stacked if they just rain 3s. They just have too many good shooters.

If AD plays like he did last year we win the series. If AD plays like 2011 Pau (fatigued, injured, disinterested) we will lose the series and it will be a gentleman's sweep.

I want to see if BKN makes it past Miami and Milwaukee. Both of these are more battle tested especially Miami..BKN guys look like front runners, if they run into early adversity those volatile characters might start butting heads and cost the series

    Very confident.

Who cares about LMA and Griffin. They’re just about washed up and can’t play defense. Don’t even get me started on Harden’s defense. And defense wins championships.

As for Harden’s offense, we may not be able to “stop” him, but we can at least reduce his efficiency by throwing fresh energetic bodies at him all game long. Tough task but as long as he’s not getting silly bail-calls all the time, we should be able to keep him in check.

KD? KD will be KD, but a healthy AD is just as good, maybe even better with his length.

So then who guards LeBron??? Harden? :D

Oh and of course AD2 brings us the interior defense we’ve been missing all season. Yeah we were doing great defensively without it (when we were healthy), but now this just makes us even better. Great stoppers on the wing, good help defense, and now an intimidating presence down-low who can also rebound like Dennis Rodman... I don’t see how any team can beat us in a 7-game series when healthy.

Also the threes will fall again when AD and LeBron are back.

Bucks? Who lost by 24 to the Clips who were without PG, Ibaka, Rondo, and Beverly?

I still worry about the Clips, even more than the Nets. I think Miami and Philly will exert the Nets and show some flaws.

i think this is important. none of those guys are mentally tough. they're all frontrunners. that said, they get in front a lot.

anyway, i thought houston was really stretching the boundaries of the all offense philosophy, but i don't think we've ever seen something like this version of nets in nba history. we had teams that committed to outscoring you (moe's nuggets, dantoni's suns) and ignoring defense, but never with this level of offensive talent.

i still want to bet on defense, and in that case, i'd pick us (if healthy), but i'm uncertain for the first time (i never thought the suns would win it, for example).

Chemistry on the Nets is definitely important and we've seen various players on that team wilt when the lights get too bright. But If they gel and are clicking that offense will be hard for anyone to stop.

It really all comes down to a healthy Lebron, Durant, and AD IMO as I have to see it to believe in Harden during the playoffs. I still like our supporting cast and think Drummond is going to do well in a much better environment.

yeah, i'm pretty worried about the clippers as well. that needs to be the main focus, not the nets

Clips look significant better once they put back Terrance Mann and Luke Kennard in the lineup. Mann has really stabilized the forward spot for them: having another decent defender whose an offensive threat whose not a retread like Batum makes them a lot tougher
