Great news. Needed some improvement - in a desperate way - with Bron and Ad out and us not making any moves at all at the trade deadline (despite it being the most active trade day in NBA history, we did nothing, zip, cause teams were hoping to take advantage of our desperation and the FO knew we could fill a couple holes with buyouts).

Blazers, Nuggets, Clips, Bucks, Heat, Nets, and Celts all got impact players.

If we get Drummond and Porter - that is two impact players each on $28 million contracts, without sending any money, draft assets, or young players out.

And we get a third all-star (former, like we had with Dwight and Rondo last year). That sort of talent, even if only in spurts now, is very important.

Drummond is not a long-term piece, let it go. It really is pure fantasy territory considering the current team construction, cap situation and his $$$ expectations.

If no Schroder is all that would take and we could somehow retain AC and THT .... see ya to the hedgehog! I don’t expect Harrell back either by his own opting out.

It would be tricky.. but he only gave back 800k on a 28.7 million dollar salary to the Cavs. So I don't know if money is the only factor with a one year deal next season. The non-Bird thing makes it a dance, but the Bucks worked around that to resign Lopez to a bigger deal. I have to check but I think a one year deal gets around the non Bird rights thing in 22. Again it depends on what he wants and and how much acrobatics we have to do to clear up room.

i'd be very surprised if dennis is back next season. he's going to want far more than they're willing to pay

well with DS theres a chance at least with the bird rights, we have none with Drummond, would have to unload kcp AND Kuz for no minimal salary back to keep drummond

I just don't see a scenario where this guy's agent let's him sign a one-year deal for peanuts to get around the bird-issues. Look what happened to Cousins. Was about enter free agency and sign a huge contract (possibly with the Lakers but that's not important) only he ruptures his achilles and never gets another big payday again. Take the bag when you can.

Now, if you're telling me that letting Schröder walk is all it takes to free up enough room to sign Drummond long-term after this season, then I'm all for it. Schröder's future remains something of an unknown to me. But I feel like Drummond would be the perfect compliment to AD as we start building towards the post-LeBron future. Problem is, I'm not sure it's enough to let Schröder walk.

one thing worth considering is that the knicks didn't factor heavily despite having the ability to offer 15 per on a multi-year deal for drummond. that's a message, imo.

maybe it's because drummond doesn't plan on taking a pay cut--but think about who's going to have cash and how much they'll have. bad teams have already seen that paying drummond 25-30 per doesn't help you be less bad. he could face a colder market than people think, and if we find a fit here, we may be able to keep him.

i do understand the general logic, though: if he plays well, it means we can't afford him. if he doesn't, we don't want to pay him anyway.

i think there are other possibilities, so we'll see.

It would be much easer for us to replace Schröder if THT develops as we hope he will. I mean we have THT and AC to replace him. Drummond may be the better option for us to try to sign. The nice part is, we can wait and see who steps up. Deal with it all at the end of the season.

Not in Minneapolis, the year they moved to LA and the year West was drafted. I was a tiny little kid and listened to every game. My mom always thought I was an odd little kid for it.

    As expected/ hoped...

From Buha and Weiss at The Athletic

Hopefully one of those rumored guys will shake loose and get bought out: Porter, Bradley, McLemore, Harkless
