Houston is smoking if they are thinking they can get a young starter. Crack kills.

None of the options excite me yet, but I guess if your team is ready to buy you out, those odds are always low.

Looking forward to seeing if Rob pulls something off like last year. Doesn't feel like we have momentum right now.

At this time last year Rob was being mocked for not trading a 1st rd pick for the other Morris brother. I trust that they'll make the right move if we can, but I can also see why the most impactful buyout guys wouldn't see as big of an opportunity here this year.

If Whiteside can just not be a douche for 4 months, and play his game, he would be HUGE at the center position. No one would be able to get to the rim without major issues with AD and Him waiting for whomever at the rim.

And then if Drummond gets bought out, get him? It's a wrap.

drummond, whiteside, dieng, all possibilities. i'd forgotten about dieng. he's a solid backup, imo. would be an under-the-radar good get.

Sadly, this is still better than most of our guys can do right now. Although, if he was on the Lakers, he'd manage to hit ~25% of his threes, so it might be a moot point.

yes, lakers: subtract 10% from 3pfg.

still think it's hilarious that morey got to walk away from houston without ever having to be held accountable for anything. tucker's being cut. or they'll get a second rounder. a young player and a 1st--that's last year's price. instead, you guys tried to roll to a title with a 6'4" center like this was the big east.

I don't know what that trade package looks like, but you pull that trigger if you can.

Our roster/ salary construction would make that difficult. KCP would have to be involved salary wise.

Would you do KCP, Wes, and THT for Turner?

Then you have a couple extra slots you can use the buyout market to fill out on the wing.

They will want Kuz + THT or the Eagle, and as much as I would love to see Turner + AD swatting everything in the playoffs, that price is too steep for me.

Was just thinking yesterday how cool it would be for KCP to stay a Laker for the rest of his career. Would be unfortunate if we had to trade him.

But for that package? Yeah, I think you’d have to do it. Especially if you could swing something for Wayne Ellington afterwards to try to replace KCP’s production for cheap.

And we let yet “another“ future all star in several years go in THT? About the time LeBron’s ready to be done as a Laker?

I wouldn’t make this deal. He’s solid, but his production doesn’t outweigh what KCP is capable of AND what THT may turn into. He’s never averaged more than 14/7 in a season, this year he’s 13/6.6, and yes the 3.4 blocks per is super impressive, but we have AD. Keep putting just competent centers next to AD and we are good. I’m not trading THT for anything other than an all-star like Beal.

I agree. All our old youngsters are starting to play well. Lonzo, Randle, Clarkson, Ingram ..... who else?? Markanun(sp?), Kuzma, but at least we kept him. I think THT is going to be another kid that becomes a solid NBA player. I totally agree that we had to trade the kids for AD but now that we have Lebron and AD, we need to have some balance between youth and vets. Honestly at this point, I am already OK with Damian Jones, he has weaknesses but he is doing some things for us pretty nicely. Catching lobs, getting some boards and protecting the rim. He has enough skills to be a solid rotation guy for us. Now if we had Drummond lined up on a buyout or if we had Whiteside wanting to be here, ala Howard; to reestablish his worth and show the league what he can do on a good team, then I might work out a way to get those guys here. But I am not really wanting to give up any big pieces, nobody who is part of the rotation. I like our core players, as a team, we have been having trouble figuring out how to play with each other. It has taken awhile to fit all the new pieces in. I actually think all this time without AD is helping the rest of the team gel, this is going to help our second unit at the very least, once he comes back.

Some people are worried about the Nets. The Nets are eventually going to be really, really good. There is no doubt in that, yet I still have my doubts about their ability to stay on the court together and to play defense first, playoff basketball. Maybe they will. I know we will and our maybe is that we might not have enough offense to beat a team like the Nets. But the bottom line is, the ONLY way we have enough solid offense to be able to out offense them is by adding another superstar offensive player and I don't see how we can do that. Maybe if we gutted the team, we could get someone but we would be about 4 players deep and those 3 guys would have to gel and play a ton of time together on the court. I just don't think that is a smart gamble. Lebron wants to own a team someday, he appears to be a fairly astute judge of talent with a really good understanding of what it takes to win in this league. He likes teams that play well as a team, he is not a prima donna, me first, type of player like Jordan or even Kobe was. I am not knocking those types of players, they can win in this league and even dominate but I am just pointing out, that I think Lebron would rather build a team around him that is a really solid TEAM. Guys who understand how to play well together and not have a need to always look to one player to constantly carry the team. It is better when you have other guys who can step up and carry the load for awhile. What makes the Nets so scary is that they have three guys who can all carry the team on their backs at a high level. But they are not as deep as we are. Right now, we have 2 guys who can carry the team on their backs, but we have 3 to 4 other guys who can contribute at a very high level. Kuz is on the verge of becoming a solid third option for us. If he improves just a little more, the league is in trouble. I love what Harrell and DS bring to this team as well. Any team we play has to plan on a way to stop those three guys, that's after figuring out a way to stop Lebron and AD. Good luck with all that, any team we face will need a solid defensive effort from all 5 guys on the court. All five of these guys can go off on offense and they all play defense. What team out there is going to stop them all, while having enough offense to not be stopped by them?? If we are healthy, the ONLY team I am worried about is the Nets but I think they will need to add another solid piece, which is pretty sad when you consider that they have already put three superstars on their team. I hope it is costing them a ton of $$$$$$.
