what do people really want from them? they've got nothing worth trading for, imo. oladipo's a rental. tucker is old and-while potentially useful-also a rental and could get bought out.

gordon is overpaid for his production and historically injury-prone. nobody's taking wall's contract.

wood's the only valuable player they have, and his skinny a** has missed half the year already in his first real gig as a starter, which is pretty troubling, i'd say.

also, they traded all their picks.

but morey's a god, right? oh yeah, he cut and run. new guy's screwed. i hope he got his payday, because i'm guessing he will get the blame for that disaster and have trouble finding employment in this profession going forward.

Gunnar’s probably put 5lbs in his back pocket already and 1/2 season to go with Handy and Vogel for technique and masters in team D. We have a young McGee by the time playoffs start.

I just realized the Spurs will have a ton of cap space this off-season. Derozen, Aldridge, Patty Mills, and Rudy Gay are all expiring contracts.

The Spurs would have only $58 million in salary the books this off-season so they will have plenty of spending money to rebuild. That franchise has always been good in finding value players that excel in their system.

wow. spurs are in the playoff picture right now, pretty firmly. man, if MDA gets his hands on LMA...

anyway, weird for the spurs to punt on their season right now.

but they've been bad at finding big stars to join up. pop's impending retirement won't help this. i think the spurs are about to be over in a way that might make them the next supersonics. it's a race with okc to see who bottoms out fast enough to get sold to a west coast buyer.

I don't think they're punting. LMA isn't even a starter for them anymore and his minutes have dipped to low 20s. It's hard to justify not playing someone making $24m this year. Pop can easily replace his production on the free agent market or possibly even internally. You DNP a vet min replacement, ownership doesn't bat an eye. You don't play a guy making 20+ million and you're forced to have conversations with the media and front office.

Their wings can probably each net at least an early 2nd rounder. The article mentions House, Brown, Tate, McLemore, and Nwaba.

The team is in the dumpster with talent right now, might as well sell off what they can.

They're going to have to lower their ask for Tucker though. This is outrageous...

I think the reason why is because they were expecting him to be a center piece. He's not that guy, which I think you agree with. BUT, we don't expect that from him. We just need some rebounding and decent rim protection. I think he fits in perfect for that...

So if they go the buyout route, who would you rather have LMA or Drummond?

I think Drummond is the better fit, Aldridge is on the tail end. Drummond rebounds and blocks more shots, though I don’t think I’d call either a defender. Plus with Aldridge I would think AD and he like to play the same spots too much, they’re both large PFs that like to shoot, AD might have to agree to play more center with Aldridge and he would then be a stretch 4, which I would probably prefer, but would he. With Drummond you just plug him in, say score inside, rebounds, body up bigs.

If we can’t get Drummond, Aldridge would be a solid pick up. Even though he’s in his twilight years and not the same player he used to be, and also not really even the perfect fit in terms of what we need, you can’t really complain about getting a player of his caliber on the buyout market.

Plus, then we could throw out the lineup of LaMarc Gasoldridge :D

For whatever reason though, I don’t expect we’ll be in the mix for him. So I just hope he doesn’t end up on one of the other top-tier teams.

Drummond. I never want to see LMA as a Laker. NEVER. (not ever), not even in a leap year. Banned, forever forever (in a Ms Jackson Outkast voice).

I get that since he thought he was too good to come here (we should thank him, dodged a bullet). But I would have said the same about Dwight before last year. And I said the same thing about LeBron all the way to until Kobe's death. It wasn't until then that he won me over and I accepted and welcomed him as a leader of the Lakers.

For me there's pluses and minuses to both. Where I give LMA the advantage is IQ. FT%... he wouldn't have to be pulled to prevent bang-a-Drum (hack a Shaq). He's had success with good teams. Drummond has had issues in two places, now and they haven't been winning teams. He's a better passer. Can hit the 3 pretty well. And because of that, he and AD could be interchangeable a bit on offense.
