Payne looks a little bit like a young Kobe.

He looked like a earnest young man. I don't know enough about him, but I do know he's going in the Top 15-20 picks... I'm not sure how the Lakers would find a way to get to him.

Neither do I. A 46th pick for Clarkson cost $1.8 million dollars. I would imagine packaging our two players and potentially adding a player we have along with cash? It certainly would have to include 2 of the 3 for a player we really, really, like...

I'm thinking something along the lines of #27/#34 and Ryan Kelly or Tarik Black even depending on how high up we move.

Even then I see us only getting into the late teens which should be too late for Payne...

marc gasol's jumper isn't quick or pretty, but it goes in just enough to keep folks honest. that's all okafor needs, and he's not far from it, I'm guessing. I want my center to stay within 15 ft of the basket most of the time anyway.

I don't think I'd give up black for a slightly higher pick. he's a somewhat proven commodity--a solid backup big on a good contract with some upside. I'd have to be REALLY in love with that mid-first rounder.

Well there's talk of Payne going up in the Top 10 and if the Lakers really wanted him I think that's where they'd have to aim. In that case we'd have to include even more than Black, but that's kind of what I was getting at. I don't want to give up Black unless we're getting a real stud back. A young guy on a contract like his is pure gold.

I'm much more confident in taking a PG if Nash continue working with our guards. If the Lakers see something in Payne and make it happen and Nash could work with him, I'm excited.

when I see that video of him making jumpers and playing well I can't help but think of the stand out workout Randle had last year which left an impression on our FO. I just feel and get a sense that Okafor is the guy the Lakers really want as well.

Same. All he needs to do is tell Minny thanks but no thanks when he meets with Flip later this week. He does this and he's ours. If he lives a window open for Flip to like him, who knows....

JerryZgoda: @ThisIsMich81 I think Flip is in the process of converting over to Towns. I think he'll get there by draft night

Maybe he saw/read today's workout and saw that Jah really doesn't want any part of Minnesota.

Possibly. Jah's agent is Bill Duffy; same as Andrew Wiggins. Duffy has a good working relationship with Flip. I'm thinking Duffy might communicate this to Flip; you could pick Jah, but he desires to be drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. That's his first choice. Flip already knows that, but Duffy will confirm it through private conversation he inevitably has with Flip about his client. The ball is in Flip's hands...

damn I forgot that Bill Duffy was also Wiggins agent too. So much for hoping Okafor's agent would help lure him to the Lakers.

i noticed while watching the finals game how important it is still to have a post game/interior scoring presence. golden state's offense struggled pretty badly until david lee went in (and curry finding his mojo again). david lee is still way a better scorer than any of the warrior's bigs but not the greatest. conversely, in combination with the pnr, i see lebron causing a lot of trouble for the warrior's defense in the post.

after all that, i imagined what okafor can bring in the post and how it will help the offense. he already knows how to handle double teams and pass out of the post. and we all know he has great footwork down low in the post. so while towns may be the sexier pick with his ability to shoot 3's and play better defense, i think okafor will be just as important to an offense as he can create shots down low.

tldr: i will be excited if lakers pick okafor as much as towns.
