We were fortunate our picks were protected or we would of lost all of them high in the lottery wouldn’t we?

I still think for Houston it isn’t a great haul and to spite Harden they should of sent him to the Knicks for almost nothing.

Cable's model has always been to bundle stuff you don't want/need with what you really want so they can charge you more. Fans don't really care to pay for it any longer. I only use Netflix on occasion and stream sporting events I want. No need for cable or a way to justify it. If you are going to black out a bunch of the games on top of that, I'll pass. But it's all about money.

back when I researched it, I thought they had blackouts of certain games. Is that no longer the case? Why pay for partial access if you still have to stream the other games. I guess it just made it a very low priority for me personally at the time.

Blackouts are only local and based on your IP. It’s only annoying when my local team is playing the Lakers, but otherwise I get every game and can choose the Lakers broadcast.

I'm in San Diego, not sure how this plays out in other areas. We are treated as home turf. For instance, all the home games for the Clippers are blacked out. But I get all the Lakers games unless they have been picked up by a national channel. So if ESPN, TNT, CBS etc etc, not sure the exact channels but when one of these types of channels have it, Spectrum Sportsnet will not show them. Since I get all those national channels, I get all the games. Cannot remember the last time a game was blacked out and I had no access to it on my TV, years or decades I think.

And I will add, I only pay $50/month for my access using Spectrum. I picked the lowest end subscription that had Spectrum Sports.

Lowest end subscription with what please? I had to threaten to leave DTV a year ago as that with the DVR and 4 HD satellites was running me $170+. Got them down to 119 for 12 months and now it just started, at least not all the way, back up. $138 now. The most basic package since we stream, that has SSN.

Well, I’m out of country, so I’ll have to research. If anyone outside the US has ideas, by all means feel free to share your experience. Thanks!

I was surprised too. I get all the national channels and about 120 channels in total. The basic charge was 44.99 and I pay for two boxes which are 15 additional. Now, I was told when I started that this was a month to month and would remain at this price for as long as I was with them. However I have seen my most recent bill that they switched it to a promotional rate and are planning to dump that in September of this year. Typical BS. I ask them this specifically and of course, they appear to have lied to me. So, there is that. Not sure what to think at this point. That being said, I also pay for the fastest internet I can get here, which is half a terabyte and I was paying $100 a month and when I signed up, they actually improved it and dropped the price to $60 a month. Of course they are now informing me that this is a promotional rate. Hmmm, I may be quitting in September. I switch around all the time and refuse to get into that $200+ range. I use an Ooma phone and have T-Mobile for my cell. Ooma rocks. T-Mobile is like all the others but I have found them to be more honest and not try to fool me or sugarcoat their methods. ATT and Spectrum seem to be bullshitters. They tell you whatever they think you want to hear and then just lie about it. Get everything in writing from them. Which they won't do!!

You've got DTV? On the introductory price and now it's going up?

I had done my homework and checked with going back to Charter / TW / now Spectrum cable and of course the first year was well under $100 for most basic with SSN. Even the next year I believe was below the $170s.

Maybe I should just go back and forth between them every few years since am easily wired for both with simple access to switching the feeds from the dish and the pole.

well, one could argue we only tanked as hard as we did because we had those protections. had we wanted to win 6-8 more games in those years and give away the 10th pick instead of the 2nd or something, we could have, imo. and who knows how the conferences will be, but if the east continues to be inferior, making sure those picks aren't high won't be too tall a task.

Dude... NBA LP is international, there are no blackouts and it costs about $12 a month for a team pass (well, averaged out, since you pay for a season, which is shorter than 12 month) or $150 total.
