The Clippers are just a really bad matchup for us just like last year. They have 2 guys 6'7 and taller who can score 30+. It was their night. I still don't think they can beat us in a 7 game series but they present us problems. Let's see if they can get past teams like Warriors/Mavs/Nuggets and still get to us.

Lakers lost opening night last year with George not playing. Lakers beat them the last two games they faced last year. Clippers have to play perfect to beat the Lakers while they suck. Clippers will get waxed when it matters.

Bron will defend Kawhi when it matters and PG will choke ( Morris will take shots away from him too).

An additional wing defender wouldn't have hurt though . Weird we still have not prioritized and adressed this need

Also, AD at Center completely changes that matchup.

Nice rings. Lakers came out a little distracted. Fell too far behind early.
They may miss Howard and McGees effort down low. Also this lineup pushes AD to the 5 where his size is less of an advantage. But still, had they kept it closer in the first, Lakers probably win it.

LeBron only played 28 Minutes, we shot terrible. AD had a way below average outing &
Snake & Paula had great games.. I'm not reading too much into one game.
Love the immediate potential of Schroder & Harrell though...

Didn't like that AD didnt come out to play. Only thing that bothered be last night. He is 27. And in his prime. He should have been playing 35-40 min tonight and set the tone for the rest of the year.

Yeah, it felt like a preseason game honestly. I think the Lakers are taking a slow ramp up approach. It's probably a wise tactic overall, but they were obviously not into the game after the ring ceremony and I guess I get that. Vogel kind of built in a bit of a cushion saying they might be playing some ugly ball at times in the first month as they get back into this without much warm up and a lot of new guys to integrate.

yep. it was my only real concern from the game. AD seemed content to take on the challenge of guarding leonard and then kinda hoping everybody else took care of the rest. and again, i think vogel/lebron drew up some devastating counters and AD didn't always make the read on the doubles.

i said a couple weeks ago that i expected a slow start while we figured out rotations. certainly saw reason to believe that last night. guys haven't played together and in those roles, hence the TOs, probably some of the missed defensive assignments.

still, though, we were a PG career shooting night from winning anyway. he was covered pretty well on a lot of those.

for how bad we played, we were still in this thing. that bodes well.

i will however say that watching ibaka on the clippers was tough. wish he had gone anywhere but there

Opening night's game was meaningless to everyone except the Clippers.

Lakers are far better equipped to repeat, than the Clippers are to actually compete.
