I think the FO is of the opinion that they'll take whatever they can get. Love is certainly a splashier move than Carroll. I'll be interested to see which FAs they go after right away. Part of me would love if they thought outside the box on their first move instead of swinging for the fences on big FAs. If they could nab someone like Carroll right away, it'd make a great statement of confidence in our young guys and a statement of faith in our future plan. They won't do it and I understand that. Talent wins in the league and I don't think anyone could argue that Love isn't more talented than Carroll. I'm sure they'll call Marc Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge regardless of who we draft. Then you train Randle in SF skills just in case we are able to grab a big man in FA and the draft.
Speaking of Lin, imagine Randle and Okafor running the P&R with him. With the plethora of spin moves that they have, they'd be unstoppable moving towards the basket.
This is true. I think we're going to try it though. I'm not a fan of it, but I think it's in our future. I am down with the "sign a sf and resign Lin and Davis as our offseason" crowd. I'd rather it be Harris or Middleton, but I guess Carroll will do. And I remember seeing someone mention his liver issue earlier. I don't think it's that serious and doesn't seem at all likely to come up in the next 4 years unless he starts chasing 5 grams of Tylenol a day with Whiskey.
We should shut this down until after the draft lol, cause that will definitely give us a great clue going into free agency of how the Lakers strategy could look like.
Aminu's price is expected to be around $4m annually http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas-mavericks/post/_/id/4705297/mavs-bid-or-bye-al-farouq-aminu
In the case of Aldridge, I lean towards Towns' versatility and defense to pair with Aldridge's offensive skills. Towns' range could compliment Aldridge's post game. Defensively, Okafor/Aldridge isn't the best, and spacing would be tight, or it would turn Aldridge into a stretch 4, where he's more effective in the post. Not saying I wouldn't be opposed to see it though.
the suggestion from emplay about Aldridge being #1 make perfect sense to me. marc's pretty much made it clear he's staying or going to SA. love has been quite clear about staying. so LA is the only all-nba guy left on the market, and the lakers tend to harvest those. i'll take him, fit be damned. either draft big can work with him, and the three of them (LA/JO or KT/randle) will have plenty of minutes to split up for the time being. not to mention a big name like Aldridge might entice the next FA in ways young guys can't. still a longshot, though.
Okafor would play like 24 a game, so LMA could work from wherever he wanted. Randle could slide around, too. If I were a Star Guard I'd be salivating to play with that team.
I mean it'd be great if Aldridge did his thing and ended up in LA doing that thing, but I just don't see it happening...
Please stay far, far away from this team with your broken down body. You want sunshine and to play in the West? Go to Phoenix, they'll extend your career 4-5 years.
I thought he was coming here a couple of week ago. However, after listening to Windhorst, I think he does stay in Cleveland. No problem. We have Randle. . As far as Aldridge, I think he goes to San Antonio. We'll draft Oak or Towns, and fill the rest of our needs with 2nd/3rd type free agents this summer.
