AD, Giannis, and Bron aren't a natural big 3 fit. If it were up to me, I would prefer the Lakers to grab a combo guard who can shoot and create for others. Damian Lillard/AD/Bron would be insane. If Kyrie wasn't such a wacko, he'd be an awesome fit as well. Giannis is just too good to pass up. LeBron is 36 when this season starts so that's about a two year window where I would say Bron is the 1st option and then it's all on Giannis+AD to carry it through. Giannis will be 26 this upcoming week and AD will turn 28 in March... Both AD+Giannis+LeBron have the potential to make the Lakers a title contender for the next seven years. I'd imagine LeBron would play until his 40's and then if he still wanted to play, could easily be placed off the bench and still drop 18/6/6 in his early 40's. It's obviously going to be Bron's team still but Giannis will have that torch within 2-3 years - right when he hits his prime.

giannis and AD on defense...oh lord...people were frantic about load manager and PG. imagine if they were both 4 inches taller and could defend centers.

anyway, i'm not buying into it. let's go get another one while everybody waits on him.

Giannis is an oversized, athletic SF. He'd fit. AD is a 4/5 hybrid, and old Bron will play the way he needs to play to win. If anyone can find a way to make everyone fit, it's Bron.

If we don't get Pau (Bron made it sound like that's happening) or Dedmon...

AD and the Lakers put a huge stake in small ball this last year. It's time to stomp on it all the way this year and beyond. You have Giannis and AD in their primes, and small ball will be all but over.

Spectrum aired an hour of RJ and Channing Frye’s podcast with Lebron as the guest. It must have been filmed a few days ago because he mentioned how we still have 2 roster spots. He said he hopes we bring back Quinn Cook for one of those spots, and was coy when they asked if Pau might come back.

Just passing along the info, but I wouldn’t read too much into it. With Cook, it was in the contest of thanking his teammates from last year that moved on and it almost seemed like he was just trying to be nice and act like Cook still had NBA career options.

    Okay, the Giannis situation.

Unless I'm mistaken, next year, assuming AD 1+1's and LeBron opts out, we'd have 25 million cap dedicated with Harrell, Gasol, KCP under contract. Harrell. And Gasol on expirings.

So what sort of paycuts would our stars be looking at to make it happen?

Does anyone know how long Giannis has to decide if he wants to sign the supermax extension?

I know the theory of AD not signing yet is to see what Giannis does, but training camp is starting soon.

I do sort of hope Giannis makes the league explode by declining the supermax and then hiring Rich Paul as his agent a day later lol

I think the Bucks screwed up their chances with Giannis. If they had pulled off a Bogdanovic signing I believe he might have signed the super max extension. But with them blowing that completely I think he keeps his options open. Guess we will find out. I don’t think they have done enough to convince him to stay.

I'm 5'7". I could bang down low as a small ball center. If nothing else, the other team's bigs would all get injured tripping over me.

you'd want to add the cap holds for kuz and caruso to retain their bird rights, i think. might be another 10-15 million there? depends on what kind of contract caruso's is.

harrell may just walk, too, which adds 10 to the figure, but you might prefer he stay as well. let's say he stays and be conservative on cap holds. you've got 40 million + roster charges (min cap holds 1.6X6=approx 10 million?) to round it out. so you've got 50 million on the books and you have to renounce bird rights to lebron and AD and try to fit those two and giannis into what, 60 million? if you just let harrell, kuz, and caruso walk for nothing, you might free up another 20-25 million, but again, splitting that three ways means pay cuts the likes of which we haven't seen to make it work. from everyone. would lebron be willing to take WAY less? i doubt it. kobe didn't.

i just don't see it. but i've been wrong before.

edit: tldr: three maxes without a trade is nearly impossible with vets. cap is 110-120, maxes 35-40.

    trades ftw.
