    It's the veterans minimum. No way Cacock is better than him. Hopefully Gasol is our starter at center, but Whiteside is worth the very low risk.

    Funny. So no team in the NBA wants to offer the 'elite defender' who led the league in blocks even for a vet minimum? That tells you everything you need to know. They don't value Whiteside highly. His individual defensive prowess doesn't usually end up helping his team defense. He is immature, complains, and whines when he doesn't get the ball. I just think you're answering your own question... Plenty of teams could use a center like Whiteside but why aren't they? Is the league intentionally blackballing Whiteside?

    Who the hell said anything about Cacock? He's on a two-way contract so the Lakers would rather develop him... Whiteside can't be developed. He's a 31 year old baby who no team wants because he cries about playing time and shot opportunities.

    I guess you know something that the other 30 teams don't then. Why aren't any teams giving him a vet minimum for the elite defense he provides? Maybe because he isn't an elite defender? Lmao.

    I would kind of hope not, we’ll get eaten up on bench defense if so. I’d prefer him at PF and a legit backup C, no idea who, but just someone with legit size.

    Absolutely agree. The guy is a double double and blocking machine. You could do a lot worse for Vets min. I don't love Whiteside's game but for that price, I'll take it!
