Harrell and Gasol are enough at the center position.

Morris is going to Toronto in a teams trade , Javale and 2nd rounder to NY

I'm sure they drastically overpaid. It's their calling card

This offseason is like what Laker boards have been doing for years but only Rob is doing it in real life. What a Boss:LLLLLebronlaughing:

Javele has 3 titles and has made millions in his career. Worse places to end up than New York.

Because they have so much cap space, this deal would help NY, too. So we shouldn't have to include anything more than a future 2nd.

We had 2 just about 7 footers last season though, Harrell is an undersized center. We also had Morris backing them up for decent size. We currently lack a true backup PF, unless you count Kuz. I’m just a little concerned about us losing our size advantage from last season, we bullied teams with it, but we seem to be getting a bit smaller at each position and leveling the field a bit.

I agree with that, it seems like we are losing a bit of what made us so tough last year.

What the Lakers lacked last year was players who could score besides Lebron and AD. They got two of those this week.

Lakers bigs were interchangeable depending on match ups. However, when it was time for crunch time, lineup had AD at the 5. So this craziness with we need a center is dumb. We will get one but we really do not need to drop a lot of money on it.

Javale isn't bullying anybody , I agree with you when it comes to D12 and the backup PF position though .

We'll go shopping at the deadline for another wing to replace Morris in our smallball lineup .

As I said before , PJ Tucker would have been a NICE get

I was under the impression that we can’t make mid-season or deadline buyout signings if we are hard capped. If I’m wrong that’s definitely different. Don’t get me wrong I still think we are in position to repeat, I just think we have a little work to do finish this roster and feel very comfortable about every position.

I think the expectation is we will be hard capped, but we haven’t signed Harrell or AD yet, so there’s still a possibility that we can arrange the contracts to not trigger the hard cap.... at least that’s what I think is happening. It is a little confusing.

We're hard capped from Wes Jr. at the BAE though.

He's really good in This Is Us. Not sure he has the size to succeed at the NBA level though

I could use some clarity on this as well.

I think currently, we have 10 players on our roster and have enough room under the hard cap to add 4 more minimum players. Taking our salary up to the hard cap with 14 filled roster spots. So if a free agent became available mid-season on the buyout market, we couldn't even sign them for the minimum due to hard cap, even though we have a roster spot.

Now what I'm not sure of is, would we be able to waive one of the minimum players we sign, in order to free up the room under the hard cap to use a minimum contract on a buyout market player?

Like, say we sign Cousins right now at the minimum as one of our final 4 spots but then he ends up being too banged up to rely on. Could we just cut him and sign someone else? Or even if we cut him, is his money still on the books (assuming it was a guaranteed contract) and so it doesn't give us any relief towards the hard cap?

I think it might be the latter actually. Which means the only way we can have the flexibility to sign someone mid-season even just for a veteran's minimum contract would be to (1) only sign 3 more minimum contracts right now, (2) be able to pull off a mid-season trade that has more outgoing salary then incoming salary, with a net reduction that frees up a veteran's minimum salary, or (3) have one of our final contracts be unguaranteed.

I think we trade McGee to give Marc AND Morris a little more than the min. Plus to make KCP’s contract fit as well.
