Realistically, I'd give a call to Hassan. We could really use him to anchor our D. Not the highest IQ around, but a capable big, for sure. I mean, I'm sure he's on Rob's radar.

Aside from character concerns, whats the negative on Whiteside filling in the Dwight role?

He'd be a fantastic get. He's respectable from deep for a big. Smart player, great motor. Additional cliche.

Yeah, Baynes would be OK too. He can shoot. Looks tough with that beard too. Would fit on the LA Beards team.

The negative is that it’s a pipe dream to think someone who averaged 15.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3 blocks, on 62% from the field as the starter on a playoff team would sign for the minimum.

At one point in the bubble, the narrative was that Whiteside was turning it around and found his role on the Blazers. I think the fact that the Lakers destroyed the Blazers in the playoffs is giving us an unrealistic sense of Whiteside’s value. There is zero chance we can get him. If we had a shot at him, it would be insane not to make him our top priority at this point.

Anyone else concerned that we don't have anyone on the team (other than James) that can guard SF's?

That is my concern, too. That's why I wanted Craig

I’m worried Gasol is just using the threat of signing with us for the minimum to extract more money out of Toronto. Unless Pelinka pulls some more cap wizardry, I don’t see how we can improve our offer past the minimum. Maybe a sign and trade with McGee? But then we would still need another center anyways.

I'd like an additional wing defender, but Wes defends 3s without too much trouble. He's known as a man defender and is physically strong. You can always give Kuz a chance against certain matchups.

Glad we're on the final 2. Not really sure how we improve our offer. Not moving Kuz in this. Moving McGee leaves us with the same problem of only 1 center.

Also, I don’t want to have to put him in this position all the time ... but AD might be our best wing defender. In big moments of big games, I could see him guarding the opposing team’s star wing player.

Another perimeter defense option is Demarre Carroll. He's pretty close to done. But if he's only here for spot defense with select matchups, I think he can manage that still.

It's slim pickings for that role at this point.

We offer Pau a coaching position. :)

I mean it as a joke, but wouldn't you love to see this?

Kuzma can , at times ... but he's going to brick on the other end .

I totally agree , Lakers don't seem to make it a priority for 2 seasons in a row , it's very strange . I mean Harkless went to the Heat for 3.6 millions ...

Butler exposed it during the Finals , Floppers and C-bags could have and still will be able to if we meet in the playoffs.

Thought about that, but I think he's set to play Barcelona. If he's willing to change his mind, he can come play here or coach. I know he and his wife have been spending a lot more time in LA to be there for Vanessa.
