On paper, I would hope Batum can still be a decent wing defender to pick up. He's still only 31 and hasn't had any major injuries that I'm aware of. But I haven't actually seen him play in years. I know his numbers in Charlotte last year were abysmal, but it seems like he just wasn't part of the rotation, likely because Charlotte was trying to focus on developing their younger players. The year before that, he shot 45% from the field and 39% from three.

My initial reaction to the idea of Korver was not a good one, just because he's so old so I imagine he's a black hole on defense. But honestly I've always wanted him on the Lakers at various points. Just fun to have a sniper out there to space the floor, would love to have him available to play in 2k lol. And he was still able to shoot 41% from three in 16 minutes a game last year. That's definitely serviceable. He may not have to be a consistent part of the rotation, but I could definitely see Vogel using him effectively in spot minutes here and there for specific situations and matchups.

yeah batum just fell off the map completely. hard to believe he went from quite good to useless in 18 months. not sure if he's a prime need for us, but someone should take a look.

To get Marc, Lakers will have to convince Pau Gasol to get Marc to do it. I still would rather have Cousins, though. I think the potential to even be a scoring threat with Cousins would overwhelm many teams.

Liked by Channing Frye too, I wonder if they know something considering their Lebron connection.

Although, I put way too much stock into that last year when Damon Jones and Kendrick Perkins were acting like Kawhi was coming to the Lakers...

He got the money and probably didn't give a damn anymore. Some players really don't care about winning a title. For the vet minimum, though, I wonder if he can play defense. Does anyone follow him? If he can play defense, he's got nice size, still only 31, and would be a nice backup player for LeBron.

Well that's what I'm hoping is that he fell off the map because he had nothing meaningful to play for in Charlotte. Put him in a championship position and maybe that lights a fire under him again.

About Cousins, I agree with you. I'd be happy with the Marc signing, but I think Cousins may be a better value. I would even consider going for both of them. If Cousins is available for the minimum, I just think you can't pass up something that is so low risk/high reward.

    Here's the issue with that:
    1) we need D, Marc is an infinitely better man defender.
    2) if it's either/or, it's very high risk. Cousins has had multiple career threatening injuries at this point and won't be ready to start the season. With only McGee, we're too thin for that kind of risk.

Now if we get both, that's great and I agree, Cousins could be worth it then, depending on how we fill our perimeter needs.

I don't know why people have kept bringing Cousins up for so long , there is a 99.99% probability he's done and can't defend anyways

I like Cousins but he's lower on the priority list. Number one priority is Gasol. 2nd priority would be possibly moving McGee to make cap room to sign Morris. I'd say Cousins comes after that.

Cousins is D>O>N>E. Time for everyone to really understand this. Why are you being so stubborn?
