I personally think DeRozan is probably the worst all star you could fit with Lebron. Bad 3pt shooter, not a great off the ball player, weak defender, known choker and underachiever in the playoffs. Would rather have Melo for vet min or just keep Kuzma if the goal is to run a 2nd offense through him.

Everyone knows Bron plays best with shooters, you dont try to reinvent the wheel and get a 3rd star that cant shoot. That makes no sense.

Schroder ? Damn his game sucks .

    DD doesn't defend and isn't a 3pt threat , another pass

I want Gallo (a perfect fit) and a PG (not Schroder). As for DeRozan... If he was playing for any other team, there might have been a chance. But since he's playing for Pop, we better save ourselves time and effort.

so the knocks on derozan include not being a defender, but everyone wants an aging gallo? who plays the same positions as our three most talented players? ok.

think the "kuz as fulcrum of second unit offense" failed pretty spectacularly, tbh. and melo wasn't all that playable in portland, imo. i think people had gone overboard in claims he was totally useless, and that lowered expectations enough for him to exceed them. make no mistake: a contender shouldn't be playing him much.

anyway, i'm far from derozan's biggest fan, but his contract situation, talent, and positional fit are the best i've seen for what we're offering so far. and maybe the rule here is not to mess with a good thing, and that's fine. but suggesting that someone like melo would help more is misguided, imo.

when someone posted dinwiddie--sure! ideal fit. no way we get him. but great fit.

I would compare DeRozen playing with Lebron very similar to 2 seasons ago when LeBron played with Brandon Ingram.

DeRozen/Ingram’s games are very similar where they both need a lot of iso plays that end up with either a drive to the rim or a mid range pull up. Neither are great off ball players. Both aren’t great 3 point threats and are only “average” perimeter defenders.

It was a awkward fit with LeBron/Ingram and would be the same with DeRozen. This team needs floor spacing for LeBron to have driving lanes and AD to operate in the post, and DeRozen can’t provide that.

DeRozen is a solid player and has the allstar namer but he wouldn’t make this team better.

If we are intent on packaging Danny Green/Kuzma somewhere, the team would benefit more if we traded for someone like Evan Fournier (expiring contract as well), Caris Levert or Buddy Hield (the better player but will be under contract at a large price for another 3 years).

Taking on a Levert or Hield contract will cause us to lose our cap flexibility for 2021 free agency, but let’s be honest - there isn’t a whole lot of realistic free agents to preserve that cap space for. Giannis is unlikely to come, then there’s Kawhi and Paul George... or Victor Oladipo.

Punting on 2021 Giannis dreams won’t be such a bad team if we instead build a strong team to contend for the next 2-3 years. Not to mention we would be able to bring back a lot of our current free agents for longer than just 1 year deals.

Can you imagine if we traded Green/Kuzma for Hield, resigned Rondo, KCP, Bradley, Dwight, McGee and Morris for 2-3 year deals to align with Lebron turning 39 years old?

Sign Carmelo to a 1 year vet min to replace what Kuzma does.

There’s peace of mind to know our rotation would be like this for the next 2-3 years:

    Lebron (as the point guard)/Rondo/Caruso
    KCP/Bradley
    Hield/Carmelo
    AD/Morris
    Dwight/McGee

Yeah. I posted Dinwiddie. A long shot for sure but I wish we could land someone in that mold.

I ultimately think teams are going to be as reluctant as ever to trade with us. Especially since we have so few pieces to make a deal with. I think we end up with a guy like Gallo, maybe Ibaka, along with other ring chasers. We will run it back with largely the same team.

    interesting on the Spurs.

I just can’t forget that Pop made that terrible move mainly to spite us. He sent Kawhi to literally the furthest team he could.

Also can’t forget him calling Demps and the Hornets to tell them not to trade AD to us.

I can go back even further to him stating there needed to be a trade committee back when we got Gasol.

His dislike of us goes deep. I think he will send him literally anywhere else for a much worse deal...again.

remember when all we have to look forward to every offseason was the lottery and the draft? Now we're rejecting fantasy trades for All-Stars lol

What can you possibly hope to get with Danny Green+Kuzma in the open market. Do you guys genuinely think we can fetch anything worth of value? I mean, ya'll act like we have Ingram, Ball, Hart, and the 4th pick that we traded for AD... we have Kuzma on an expiring restricted contract and Danny Green who everyone here hated but now we're acting like we like him?

Danny Green still has good value as a trade piece. His expiring contract alone would net us something, and there are going to be a few younger teams that would value his championship experience and influence on their young talent. Plus, there is always the possibility that he could still recover his shooting stroke. Kuz has value. I'm sure several GMs can see what's obvious to me. He will be better in a situation where he gets more touches.

for the record, i still want bogdanovic. i think it's possible to get him, too. obviously via s&t, but sac might consider kuz a good consolation as opposed to either a) locking up 40 million per in the sg position with no allstars to show for it or b) letting him walk for nothing.

NY would be perfect for Westbrook, he gets to put up all the empty stats he wants, the fans get to watch a “show”, he can chuck 50 times a game if he likes..

i'm fine with that given his injury history... let's focus on Gallo/Bogdanovic/Serge and stay the f away from CP's contract.
