IF IF IF, if wishes were horses all rides would be free
If Huntly were Brinkley we'd watch NBC!

Sure, IF the Lakers have verbal commitments from other players behind the scene, IF Lebron wants him at all costs, IF CP3 would somehow restructure and take less, IF IF IF..

Most IFs do not happen. I will stand behind the team and our FO, no matter what, I think they are pretty smart at team forming. If our FO decides to bring in CP3, then I assume they have their options well thought out. But my guess is this will not happen because on the face of it, it is stupid on the money side and the team building side.

i probably dislike harden more than anyone--seriously. cannot stand his game.

that said, the league has decided that his game is the shizzle dizzle and we have the FTAs and non-travel and non-arm bar calls to prove it. if you could get him without moving lebron or AD, you'd have to, as a manager.

i dealt with karl malone; i could learn to deal with harden.

and THAT said, it's not happening because his trade value is too high and we wouldn't move either of our stars for him.

    so...we're safe.

oh yeah, now miami's too good for everyone. whatevs. recency effects...

Miami is waiting for Giannis in 12 months. I doubt they do anything big until then. Giannis to Miami makes way too much sense. Plus, Windhorst is a chode. I do not dislike him but he is a chode.

i wonder if someone trades for giannis in the interim and short circuits their plans. i think it's funny when these teams just consider another team's star their birthright--like when boston was after AD for half a decade. you never know when someone is going to act while you're patiently waiting for your genius to reveal itself to the world.

Someone is going to get caught holding the bag for a wing that probably peaked in a 5 game series in the bubble playoffs.

Thank you. Classic overeating of a contract year player. If anyone pays him close to the max or max will regret it at some point in year one.

I don't think he'll get the max. Early buzz is $15m a year, ball park. I think that's a little high, I'd offer him $12m a year if I'm going after him. Don't really like him for us, but I think he'd fit well in Miami and their grit culture.

That said, I think they need another guy who can get his own buckets, so if they spend their money on another role player with limited sample size, that's a misstep in spending.

You can read that as they're not moving him, I see it as a chance to buy low.

He's an MLE talent. 15 million is way too much.

He's my #1 offseason target. He's expiring so he will not only be going all out for a big contract, but he also won't effect our pursuit of Giannis. He is a ball handler and a good defender. He can get his own shot to a degree. If he's even 90% of what he was, he becomes a legit third option to take a lot of the ball handling and scoring burden off of Lebron. A backcourt of him and Caruso is a perfect fit with Lebron and AD. Add Gallo with the MLE and we are in business.

I’ve been concerned with Oladipo’s injury history (and I think other teams are too) but he’s also probably number one on my list as Beal is most likely pipe. If we could get him for DG, Kuz and McGee or a pick I do it. Green gave us nothing for that $15 mill and Kuz underwhelmed. Oladipo is not so high risk and big possible reward if he can play near pre injury level. We need guard help for next year.

Just say :No2: to even entertaining the thought of taking in CP2's hideous contract and blowing up the roster to do it.

If CP3 was somehow bought out, then sure, I'd love to have him. In fact, he'd fit perfectly. But we can't trade for his contract, just no way.

Of course the rest of the league owners would cry foul but at some point it is going to backfire on them because you cannot ALWAYS have it both ways. Their concept is to stop the Lakers from doing it, but let us do it. They should just run for political office in California. They will be right at home!!

The league needs to have solid rules and just stick to them, no matter what. My guess is, they might not get it next year but perhaps the last year. That would be a good compromise and a fairly equitable solution that appeases the other owners about 40%.
