Won't argue that Pelinka should've won it, but for him to be voted 7th is just ridiculous.

Nick Wright seriously needs a vote in all these awards. As does Le Shannon Sharpe :)

Rob may not have won executive of the year but he has a helluva paperweight for his office now.

Give the man his props. He was doubted like crazy last offseason with the coaching moves and getting played by Kawhi. But he stayed focused and led his team from the GM position. He's the man. He's a world champ.

Magic just referenced this call on Spectrum. Said Rob said ‘hey Earvin, remember when we took over we were over the salary cap. Dent and Mozgov were our highest paid players”, Worthy, McGee and crew cracking up. Then he brought up how everyone told him not to sign Rondo, had to get in some patting himself on the back, but you gotta allow it tonight.

Props to Rob. Everyone doubted him and the position he was in during and after the Magic fiasco. But damn, he knows a thing or two about the game.

Can't wait to see what he's capable of when a FA target isn't holding us hostage for a week. And when players and agents are calling him, trying to get on for the repeat.

Riley did very well to get Butler and put together that team. Think most everyone is coming back and they will be in the conversation next year.

Dunno about Pelinka winning, but he should have finished higher than 7th.

It was from Exodus but we get the point. I think he knew Lebron was leaving CLE and coming to LA

Pelinka's comments on 24 gave me the goosebumps. Unreal... His call to Johnson? Class act.

Kawhi tried to screw us. Free agent market had mostly dried up. We had Lebron, AD, and Kuzma on our roster. Then Pelinka assembled a championship roster the next morning in the matter of a few hours. Boogie gets hurt, he brings in Dwight. Pressure to make a mid-season trade, brings in Markieff for free. So happy for Rob considering where the perception of him was at a year ago.

The perception was Rob Pelinka, a highly successful agent, did not understand how the salary cap works. Ramona helped pushed that narrative, but Rob and the front office never allowed the nonsense to affect them. They always had a plan B,C, and D, and I am happy for them. I know all the criticism they received over the years makes this championship even more sweeter.

Rob!! Bump!! What the hell you doing on page 2!? Unacceptable!!

Nice article on him and Magic mending fences and burying the past. If Rob's a big enough person with respect to what Magic did ..... then I as simply a fan of the team .... will maybe start to think about doing that as well maybe next year. :giggle:

In all seriousness thanks Magic for your vision and leadership and charisma and selling ability in getting this amazing turn around started just 2 1/2 seasons ago.

love the subtle digs from jeannie about just keeping focus on the work. that was a blast at a LOT of people, delivered deftly, imo, and also a statement in support of rob.

he had a rocky start. he and magic botched the PG trade demand. but he learned and landed AD in basically the same manner (honestly, it was easier with magic not involved). now, he's got a ring and serious credibility with the league's flagship franchise.

    run for cover, haters.

That was one of the dumbest comments I heard out of the media drainage hole. Rob Pelinka was a sports agent who signed NBA players, whatta mean he doesn't understand the salary cap? That is his job to know. That's like saying a doctor doesn't know how to put stitches on a wound. I had forgotten why Mo-Mo was exiled from the Lakers inner circle, now I know why.

I do not mind if you dislike the Lakers but stupid comments that makes zero sense should not be in your credibility box when making an analysis.

He beat Jerry West’s conspiring attempts.

Jerry and Balmer thought they landed Kawhi AND ruined the Lakers’ plan Bs and Cs.

That said, wenow need to get rid of Plan DG somehow. Lol
