Funny how even with Rob doing things correctly from every turn, there is still back handed comments towards him. Maybe Rob makes people feel less than. Seems like he did that to Magic and it hurt his ego. Guys like Rob doesn't seem to care about prestige and legacy. He goes into a job and tries to execute the job. Regardless of lame press conferences and vegan diets.
Sorry for the delayed response. Schedule has been crazy lately. It's still unofficially Kurt Rambis, as it's been pretty much since Magic resigned. I think I gave a lot of the backstory this past summer if you're curious as to what happened internally. I don't think they're going to officially fill that vacancy anytime soon, though. With Kurt or someone else.
I really like Rob. I think the Clips have a better FO, but that's only because I think we should surround Rob with more experienced FO personnel. The fact that we have Rambis in the FO is a complete joke. Either way, do what you have to do to get Giannis, Rob. In other words, tamper away, but don't get caught.
Rambis may have sucked as a head coach but I don’t know why people assume he doesn’t know NBA basketball. Maybe he’s not a genius but I doubt he’s a doofus as typically implied.
Did you just ignore what I wrote in the first sentence? Do any of us really know, just like any other ******* thing that goes on in the FO? I give Jeanie more credit than that but you can carry on with your narrative and pure guesswork. Which team gave up nothing for the better Morris and is 5 games better in the standings in spite of Leonard and George and West and Ballmer? What would any other “help for Rob” have done to land Leonard?
It really isn't guess work if you read and can formulate common sense. But you continue to be uninformed; I am not here to educate you.
I give Rob the most credit, honestly. I don't think Rob runs through things without notifying LeBron and AD. AD said during the offseason that Rob would constantly call him about every little trade or potential signing. The amount of faith Rob has in those two is something you rarely see in franchises. It seems it would be so much fun playing for the Lakers under Rob's leadership. Also, Kobe doesn't hang around losers. The fact Rob is that close with Kobe shows that Rob is obsessed with what he wants to accomplish.
My “guess” is Rambis offers his opinions and observations from decades in the league, isn’t the dufus that so many assume he is and Rob is the man with the final say now. Magic had it before.
We all read the same reports. Some may have been legit, but several were hit pieces to embarrass the entire FO, and so far nobody can argue with the results. Maybe, just maybe, the FO has the slightest clue what they were doing after all.
He's failed at in every career post-basketball. Jeanie created a position for him to be a "special advisor" to the Front Office when Magic was here. When Magic left, there was a power vacuum left, and Kurt tried to fill it that role; this was according to @Mr. Rambis, IIRC. As far as the Marcus Morris deal for the Clips; yes, they gave up a lot. It reminded me of the way Mitch use to our draft picks. However, for the most part, they have done a decent job, and have put quite a nice list of executives together to fill out their FO. I'm not so much concerned about Rob; he was identifying the right players during the trade deadline. We just lacked the assets. He has to get better at roster construction, but he's been okay. If the Lakers win it all, then he should be congratulated especially with his best friend and God daughter passing away.
Bump Gotta give him props and credit for getting the guys he did. Having to deal with all the meme team jokes, all the “scrambling”... guess what, those guys are coming up big in the playoffs for us.
