Ouch, posterized. Whoops, huge fail on reading comprehension on my part. Still, down 3-1 is also too late.
I loved how we also rolled out our bigs during garbage time last night...a final F.U. to Pringles, Soften, Westbrick, the Rockets and their corrupt basketball philosophy.
whatever shred of hope they had going into last night was completely dismantled by our start to the game (admittedly, i was bracing for impact as we opened with a turnover)... we are peaking at the right time, and our guys have to feel great going into a series with any team out there... i just hope we adjust accordingly to more orthodox lineups that we fill face down the stretch here (clearly it wasn't too difficult to do that against dantoni's goons).
As for GSW. They were not only stacked but also lucky AF. Cavs and Rockets would take them out if healthy.
I did the same thing in my enjoyment reading it for the first time and haste to share here. Then I read it again and thought whoops and had to go back and add “game 5” to the fly on the wall wish. That probably threw you off more if you read it after the edit.
rockets would be better off just dealing harden, getting a bunch of young players/picks in return, and starting from scratch and parting ways with d'antoni too
he's their only draw. no way they move him (even though i agree that he's also their biggest problem). his trade value would be huge right now, and i'm not sure that westbrook + whatever comes back for harden + more flexible coach wouldn't be 4/5 seed, too.
Keep playing with your ANALytics there Morey. Lakers will be over here actually executing what you TALK about.
do people see why i can't stand morey yet? never seen so much preening from somebody who's done nothing. and he won't get fired, but i could totally see him leaving. he's in a mess, partly his own making (too much deference to harden) and partly due to his former coach (which is partly his fault for hiring him), and partly due to his owner (who i think really wanted the westbrook deal). i don't think he can 90-way trade his way out of this. not that he's actually ever pulled off anything impressive other than the harden deal, which was as much good fortune as it was good strategy. and he better leave to take big money now before his rep takes a hit. then again, he's a decade in without a title and still somehow gets to be the league's best gm, so...maybe he's impervious. i just don't see how houston is going to salvage harden's prime, and after that, i don't see stars flocking to houston to prop it back up like lebron did to la. edit: key thing to watch, though: morey still has his former guy in minny. look for them to do houston a favor to try and bail them out. hinkie used to help him in philly, and he had someone in sac that always facilitated for him, too. if he runs out of friends, he's in big trouble.
If D’Antoni is still in demand after flaming out every year in the playoffs, I’m sure someone will hire Morey if he wants to leave. I don’t understand how some of these guys still get hired.
well, dantoni wins everywhere--just not titles. this is why if i were a terrible franchise, i'd totally hire him. especially if i didn't have any talented bigs he could alienate. and morey is like the gm version of dantoni--houston hasn't been bad on his watch. that has value. plus, he's still perceived as "unlucky" as opposed to just "unsuccessful". he's a media relations wiz, and the view from the press that he's a genius amongst morons is a product of that.
He wins by grinding his star players into the ground. I wonder what Pop or Phil could have done with a Phoenix team with Nash, STAT, and the Matrix. We saw Pop and Phil both wildly outcoach damfony in the playoffs with Phil almost pulling off the greatest upset in sports history. We just watched Vogel wildly outcoach the Fraud, and there have been others. We almost watched a college coach get an upset over damfony. Look at his record with New York. Garbage. Trash. His tenure in LA? Garbage. Trash. damfony is nothing but a fraud coach that rides the coattails of whatever superstar has the misfortune of playing for him. He's clueless when it comes to bigs. His defensive coaching has improved, I'll give him that, but for most of his career he's been awful in that regard. The fact that his incompetence gets rewarded with repeated coaching gigs is distressing and infuriating. So in a nutshell, if I'm running an NBA team, I wouldn't let damfony anywhere near my team.
This didn’t age well either: Posted after the Rockets won Game 1. As if a single game disproved all the journalists who thought the Lakers would win the series. If anything, all those predictions were bad because so many of them thought we would need 6 or 7 games to take down such a flawed team!
