LABron James Discussion: Olympics MVP

Obviously, my opinion of him has changed drastically since he came to the Lakers, mainly because, well, he's made us relevant again, he's arguably the best player (still) in the league, a good family man, but SAS on ESPN was saying a lot of the younger players and along with team owners were kind of put off by his bravado during these bubble meetings, hijacking the meeting, speaking out of turn...if that's true (which I wouldn't be surprised), he needs chill with the ego.

He's done ALOT of good like with his school in Akron, More Than A Vote initiative, etc; which makes him very influential, but he has a tendency to go on these power trips that are annoying and not helping the current situation.

 

I love Lebron. He pretty much just decided “You know what? LA would be a cool place to live and me reviving the glory of the Lakers franchise would be a neat story”. He saved us from potentially a very dark place as a franchise.

I think his heart is generally in a good place in terms of his activism and he has done a lot of good for the community.

But yeah, sometimes I get the sense he’s a little “fake woke”. Posting pictures of the Malcom X autobiography when it seems like he’s never actually read it. Not understanding why his inconsistency toward Hong Kong’s social issues was problematic. He probably is the type to commandeer player meetings because he (rightfully) sees himself as the face of the league.

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things though.

 

I just finished watching The Last Dance and one thing I took from that was how narcissistic and insecure Jordan is. Anyone who didn't behave the way he expected them to made his death list. And if you were in his cross hairs, you're f***ing dead.

Imagine if we play the Bucks in the Finals, and LeBron and AD made their snubs personal and went rage mode against Milwaukee and the Freak. Let that sink in and stand back in awe.

It would be a venison feast four straight. Done.

 

I've always been fascinated with dynamic, influential people. His behavior and personality traits, especially his egotism, seems to run in line with most movers and shakers. Makes sense when you think about it.

But I have so much respect for him just for his school--sending over 1,100 kids to college, most of whom would never have gotten a whiff of a college education. There's no price tag to put on that, or addressing voter inequities. Combine that with what he does between the lines, and I'm good with him, warts and all.

 

I think this is the correct way of going about things and will pay off long term with free agents.

 

This shocks me

 

It is Stephen A. Smith, so I don't believe everything that comes out of dude's mouth.

But there is a history of this with LeBron; and while I admire his basketball efforts on the court and a lot of what he's done off the court, this comes with the territory of having him on your team.

It is what it is...

I appreciate Jason Whitlock being willing to go against the grain to speak what he believes to be true. He left main stream media to help make that happen.

 

I have said, before Lebron came to LA, he was a racist. It's not a comfortable subject but the evidence has been clear for a long time.

He is not a true leader. He is a passive aggressive, pretentious rabble rouser.

Jason Whitlock said some bad things about Kobe and I did not like him for a long time. But just because someone can be dead wrong in one thing, doesn't mean they can't be right on another. Everything Whitlock said in the video has rung true.

 

He's never known anything but privilege and he has to continue to use the race card to act like he hasn't had more privilege in almost his entire life than we all could dream of.

He's a poser leader and doesn't make things better where it matters.

Anyone who's got money like him can "make a difference" when you throw money to someone who needs it. Throwing money to people will always be welcomed to those who need it. But can you actually "change" something that matters? Money is always a temporary fix. Changing culture, changing a mindset that's not good cant be changed when you cry like a little girl(Sorry Cookie, just figure of speech, not literal), and even your own peers are calling you out for being a cry baby.

Great basketball player, I will cheer him on because he isn't a bad person and he is helping my team, but in the matters that MATTER, I would never use him as a tool. I have heard some bad things about Rich Paul too, things I dont want to get into but its opposite of "helping people". Like most powerful people, they want more power. Hypocrisy at its best with all his empty social rhetoric.
