i think that was the point. if games are just determined by chucking up threes at a slightly higher percentage than the other team, we're not watching basketball. at least not a game i care to watch.

nobody wants to watch houston except houston fans.

and it's not just shooting threes--dallas and gs, pre-injuries, are fun to watch on offense--it's the lack of ball and player movement, basically as a philosophy. if the league can't find a way to disincentivize that style of play (much like they stopped 90s bullyball, which was equally unappetizing), they'll lose a chunk of their fanbase, me included.

can't stand watching guys pound the ball for 16 seconds only to lurch into a three or kick for a corner three, rinse and repeat. BORING.

who knows, maybe younger folks like this because it's basically game-ifying the sport--you find a technique that works for anything, then play the odds. the object is to win, but the experience for the fan shouldn't be determined by winning. i have no respect for dantoni's philosophy. none. i don't care that it works a lot. it's awful and makes me not want to watch the sport. if i went to the gym and people were playing that way, i wouldn't want to play. even if my team won every game.

    /old man rant

oh, and i'm also really annoyed that chris paul fell apart before getting a chance to beat houston. he's obviously not right. they had gilgeous alexander trying to run the offense in the 4th quarter, and i'm like....ick. if that was okc all year, they'd have finished dead last in the west.

If they are going to encourage a 3 point shooting league at all costs, then I would say, start allowing defense on them too. Hand checking should be re-instituted.

right, just look at 3pfgm and you've got the game story. even the percentage barely matters.

move the line back and widen the court. or adjust the scoring such that they're worth say, 1.25X as much instead of 1.5. it's the math that's killing the game. saying "deal with it" is cute and all, but it's yielding a s***ty product.

Let’s kill two Harden birds with one stone and do something radical. Let’s keep fts worth 1 point, regular fgs worth 3, and behind the arc worth 4. Shooting fouls get you 2 or 3 ftas.

This is what Chris Paul does. Every, single, season. If it’s not his game that fails in some way it’s his body. This bubble scenario does seem perfect for Haren and the Rockets to win the title though, there’s no crowds so there’s less pressure to choke like he usually does. Not thrilled about the possibility of facing them in round 2.

no road crowds to shame terrible officials sending harden to the line whenever his team is struggling to score. no season-long wear and tear from playing for six months straight at high minutes for their six-man rotation. this is huge for pj tucker.

    2020 is the devil.

Even though i hate C Bags the most, it's nice to see Sixers go fishing so soon. Can't stand Embiid, good luck winning anything with Harris making 68367947 million $ :D

Has kawhi inherited the lebron playoff luck? Great player who gets the easiest road to the finals as opposing star players go down to injuries.
