HJ, you asked me why I felt kids should go back to school. I responded. Care to respond to what I listed? Does anything I listed seem far fetched? KrAzY? Too Trump-esque?

You stood by your original premise that science is a liberal agenda. So no, I don’t care to respond.

You and I know better than most, first hand, how f****d up this is for kids. We could go on and on about the mental health repercussions that are going to last for decades due to this years crop of kids exposed to trauma and added stress in their homes. I predict a surge in crime, drug use, and societal problems related to children and adolescents in the next 10-15 years.

That being said, although very few kids are dying from COVID, enough (not at the rate of adults) are requiring hospitalization for their symptoms. That’s traumatic and in some cases leaves lasting damage to the body. Furthermore, there’s a chance a surge of pediatric hospitalizations will overwhelm the hospital capacity. But the real problem is not even in the kids getting sick. The problem is the kids being asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic transmitters, putting teachers, school staff, and their parents/grandparents at risk. If 1 kid tests positive they’ll have to quarantine the whole class, including the teacher, then they go on virtual learning until all other kids test negative. This is going to happen every few weeks. It would be so disruptive.
Both options are terrible. I’m in 100% agreement with your concerns. I’ll bet I’m more concerned than you, actually.
The only answer is for everyone in America to wear a mask and limit large gatherings as much as possible and cooperate in contract tracing to slow down the spread until a vaccine arrives. We can have a semi functional economy is people started taking this seriously.

My response was not anything liberal bashing. It was an honest answer to what I thought was an honest question. Apparently I was wrong.

Chalk me up, from now on, to everything is a liberal science agenda and ignore me. I'll do the same for you. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm starting my period and need to take a pamprin.

I love Obama. He told a room full of people that rooms full of people are unsafe and that is why we need mail in voting.

    Trump banned Tik Tok.

Now if you want to watch 16 year old girls dance you have to get on a plane with Bill Clinton.

The one thing I will say about this, in the case of kids, the flu is more deadly than COVID. I am NOT saying the flu is more deadly than COVID overall. But in the case of young kids, it is more dangerous for them if they get the flu. The other things you mentioned about them carrying it home and giving it to parents is valid though.

At this point, we have gotten much better at treating it. If you look at the charts that track deaths and new cases. The new cases line is surging up, but the number of deaths hasn't really changed all that much.

    https://ourworldindata.org/mortality-risk-covid

Obviously this is due to a lack of testing in the beginning, but the damage we are doing to the kids of our country (and adults for that matter) is starting to look far more dangerous than the virus itself. Notice the media isn't reporting the death numbers as much anymore. It is simply reporting the cases because that's a scary number based on what the death rate was thought to be in the beginning. There are other diseases taking now making a comeback due to this lockdown.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/03/health/coronavirus-tuberculosis-aids-malaria.html

The media has created a monster, our politicians are taking advantage of it. The actual data doesn't line up though.

An MSNBC staffer quit and wrote a letter essentially telling us all what we already knew. Ironic that Fox News printed a story about it as they are guilty of the same thing.

Yeah, this thing is a clusterf***. It’s good that we’re moving slowly in the right direction. Even though we’re getting better at preventing deaths and it being unlikely to cause death in children, the problem is how contagious covid is and how many people will need hospitalization, even if they don’t die. Some have lasting or permanent damage.

If we lax restrictions (and enough people don’t wear masks) we’ll see complete overwhelm of the hospitals, resulting in fema like camps set up, freaking everyone out, resulting in self imposed panic quarantine. If our numbers blow up, even if deaths stay where they are, it’s projected to hurt the economy worse than the shutdown because a larger number of people won’t be working and spending.
If everyone wears a mask and acts responsibly about crowds (parties, bbqs, beaches) we can have far less restrictions and more normal lives until a vaccine or better treatment arrives. It’s our only option. I think it sucks too.

Aside from Trump's (agreed) cluster*** leadership and decision making with the pandemic there's this opinion today on Marketwatch and have to say it seems right on from my observations this 3 1/2 years.

Why China is rooting for Trump to win

    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/why-china-is-rooting-for-trump-to-win-11596656684

Then in the car today, after watching Trump hilariously in the interview yesterday totally embarrass himself with his paper prop claiming the US was doing better than everyone with the pandemic and deaths, and as well bragging how he's excelling at these mental capacity tests (dementia tests?) ..... here's Joe Biden saying "hold my beer" and totally botching responses to a reporter asking him if he's being tested in that regard. Swear to god worse than Trump even.

    American citizens this election .....

I live in California so my vote for President is worthless as Biden will win by 10 million votes. So I will write someone in or leave it blank. But if Iived in Ohio, I honestly think I would vote for Trump at this point. Obviously not because I like Trump, but Biden is gone. He is mentally toast. The fact that the Democrats even pushed him to do this is disgusting. Rather than push a decent moderate through like Klobuchar or Buttigieg that might unite the country, they take advantage of an old man so they can have a puppet. Dude should be in a home at this point, and not a white one.
