So you’re a Trump supporter and you sit and watch stuff like this all day? No wonder.. [IMG] I may need to pretend the politics section of this forum doesn’t exist now, for my own mental health, god we need basketball back so badly.

I’m convinced the only realistic danger is to the elderly and/or those with underlying health conditions. But where are you getting this they were going to die in a month or two anyway stuff? I haven’t heard that. Believe me, I’d like to have ammo for that argument because my wife’s a germaphobe and still taking this super seriously. I’ve got to play along.

Ugh, that’s what I’ve been trying to do. Realized that arguing into a Trump worshipping echo chamber of conspiracy wasn’t very productive to my mental health and was able to stay away for a few weeks. But here I am back again...

The pandemic still exists. Cases are on the rise in many parts of the country. We should still practice social distancing and wear masks. Nothing has changed about the science. The only factor that’s changed has been economic impatience, and I think it’s not a fair representation to act like forcing workers back to their minimum wage jobs is somehow a big enough plus to the economy that it outweighs public health concerns. Regardless of if the elderly/immune-compromised are most affected (something we’ve always known), that doesn’t mean people should cover their eyes and pretend everything is normal and feed the most affected populations to the wolves.

It is hypocritical for many on the left to be taking the streets right now. But at least the vast majority of them are wearing masks. I personally know many protestors who are acting as if they have the virus and started responsibly quarantining/getting tested after they protested.

Funny how y’all only point out the hypocrisy on one side though. Not too much of a peep about public health when Karen was taking the streets of Huntington Beach without a mask to protest vaguely about her freedoms and inability to get a frappucino huh?

This is different than the previous change my mind videos, since he includes website links for each of the points he makes.

Good info. Thanks bro. The months thing I’m still not clear on. It was a brief sentence that he mumbled. I’m still confused.

I'm not sure what "data" he's talking about, but I believe it may be similar to the data presented in this Wall Street Journal article.

In Google Search, type in any 3 numbers and then "new cases". Do you not find it odd at how many articles there are with the numbers you chose ?

No, I don’t find it odd how across the entire world there have been instances of new cases in the triple digits at various places. Not sure how the 182 new cases in Rajasthan yesterday ties into the 287 new cases in Oregon last week.

Can you elaborate on this conspiracy?

It’s a fact that Oklahoma is having a huge surge in cases. It’s a fact that Trump had a rally there. Your cute meme is just a headline stating these facts. If that actual article is trying to link the rise in cases to Trump’s rally, that would be inaccurate. It’s too soon to know how Trump’s rally affected things. Realistically having a large (maybe not so large though huh Donny?) gathering of people who refuse to wear masks in a spot that is already a developing hot spot is not going to be good. The takeaway point there is that it was a dumb idea to have a rally when cases were ALREADY rising there, as warned by public health officials.

Regarding the BLM protests, it’s saying that certain cities with the most prominent protests have not necessarily shown a drastic rise in cases. The idea is that possibly the virus spread more amongst the protestors, but due to the disruption caused by protests others were less likely to go out. You also have to consider that most protestors are wearing masks.

But sure, instead of looking at things objectively let’s throw out a blanket label of everything we disagree with as “fake news”, and as an alternative let’s blindly worship the words of the orange demagogue leading your death cult.

The above is exactly what the problem with this country is right now. Insinuating he is in a death cult is outrageous and shows just how far off the deep end this country is going. There are people that support some of Trumps policies and think he is a better choice than a senile old man. I dont plan on voting for either of the two, but if someone took the position that Trump is better than Biden, I wouldn't describe them as being part of a death cult. This country is doomed not because of people like Trump, but because of people who have lost sight of the fact that we are all Americans and disagree on some things, but agree on most. Our media makes us think we are diametrically opposed on every issue. We just aren't. People are buying it though. That's why America is in trouble. Not because of a fat, orange dude. But because any and all disagreement on something turns into wild accusations.

Ok sure, if you want to discuss policy, that’s one thing. But the posts I were responding to were not about policy and they rubbed me the wrong way.

I sincerely believe the subtext of denying the virus is dangerous, and I believe Trump is stoking those flames. I don't think it's controversial to describe him as a demagogue. I would almost imagine his supporters would agree with that description and praise him for the adeptness at which he uses demagoguery to his political advantage. I don't literally think he is is trying to operate a death cult. I think he's just too stupid and blinded by his ego to understand the human cost of his words and actions. Part of my point was that from my view, labeling everything as fake news and denying the virus is just as extreme of an endorsement of Trumpism as calling him an orange death cult leader would be an extreme criticism. I was sarcastically stooping to the same level that I see the message in those posts at.

John, if you took offense to my snarkiness, I truly do apologize. I get it, it's a funny picture and the Google thing is interesting. You're just trying to share some content with a group of people that you know would mostly get some enjoyment out of it. I'm guessing/hoping your posts weren't intended to be taken as seriously as I took them, and that you have a more nuanced take on these issues beyond the surface level of the jokes.

But if we do indulge in the surface level sentiment of those posts and take them seriously, the subtext there is that the virus is a liberal media hoax. That is a sentiment that Donald Trump is fueling. I fundamentally disagree with that and I think it's extremely dangerous and has/will lead to unnecessary deaths. And quite frankly I think getting offended by my post and trying to go in the direction that my sarcastic comments are the real problem is a deflection.

If you believe that the virus is a liberal media hoax, I am diametrically opposed to you on that. If you acknowledge that Trump's words/actions are irresponsibly worsening a pandemic and costing human lives, but continuing to stand by him for some vague notion of "policy", then I am diametrically opposed to you on that. Getting hung up over the tone and extent to which I am diametrically opposed is not productive and doesn't speak to the substance of these topics.

More of the “worldwide conspiracy” to convince people this little bug is worse than the “flu”. Amazing the coordination involved in the hoax and billions “allegedly” being spent trying to create a vaccine in record time.

The article is not surprising. The fact that a drug designed to fight a bloodstream parasite works effectively against COVID-19 should have raised more eyebrows.

No, but it shuts down any rational conversation that might be had. It's the same tone all these talking heads have on FoxNews, MSNBC, and CNN. It's completely counterproductive. That sort of rhetoric is toxic. Don't stand behind "I am diametrically opposed to [policy] so don't let me calling you a death cult get in the way of me being right." That's arrogance personified. "I'm right. You're wrong. So anything I say to you is valid and you have to take it." That's not civil discourse. That's berating someone. Good luck changing their mind when you come at them with "You're in a death cult." When you argue using that tactic, you are doing way more harm than good and you are part of the problem.

Again, I was responding to “you’re all fake news” and “the virus must be fake because you get Google hits about it”. I wasn’t responding to a rational conversation or civil discourse, so why suddenly is the onus on me to be civil?

Im not saying “I’m right, you’re wrong, so anything I say is valid”. I’m saying “While I don’t know if John himself actually subscribes to the extreme sides of these views, the subtext of his memes conjured up in my mind this pro-Trump virus denying strawman. I am admittedly attacking this hypothetical strawman because I very strongly disagree with the extreme sides of this school of thought which I think are directly fueling deaths during a pandemic.”

And you’re saying “Yeah but you’re being too mean about it”. No offense but that seems a bit like the “triggered snowflake” attitude that conservatives are always making fun of. If someone does subscribe to the extreme sides of those ideas and then instead of discussing the substance of their views they get further entrenched in their extremism because they’re sensitive over my tone, then I don’t think they were ever as persuadable as you give them credit for.

The thing said "You are fake news." Not "You're all fake news." So it points to a single situation. Adding the word "all" is a sneaky way to distort the truth of pointing out a single instance and obvious manipulation of a headline into a situation where someone believes everything is wrong. But in all fairness, in this situation, fake may be the wrong word. But there is definitely a manipulation of a fact (virus went up in OKC) by implying causation (the rally). They then turn around and say the protests which had more people closer didn't cause a spike. But this manipulation of the headline supports your beliefs so you choose to ignore it.

And this is where I'm out on this conversation. Not going to argue with someone who uses the excuse that they can be "mean about it" since the other side can be jerks. And nice job walking the line of calling me a triggered snowflake.

Another proof that is all BS

A high-profile European pathologist is reporting that he and his colleagues across Europe have not found any evidence of any deaths from the novel coronavirus on that continent.

Dr. Stoian Alexov called the World Health Organization (WHO) a “criminal medical organization” for creating worldwide fear and chaos without providing objectively verifiable proof of a pandemic.

Another stunning revelation from Bulgarian Pathology Association (BPA) president Dr. Alexov is that he believes it’s currently “impossible” to create a vaccine against the virus.

He also revealed that European pathologists haven’t identified any antibodies that are specific for SARS-CoV-

Dr. Alexov made his jaw-dropping observations in a video interview summarizing the consensus of participants in a May 8, 2020, European Society of Pathology (ESP) webinar on COVID-19.

Seasonal flu epidemics really kill young people, that's the huge difference, while the so-called Coronavirus Pandemic doesn't have any young people dead. Coronavirus infection does not lead to death, and influenza epidemics lead to death. The differences are huge! The WHO has made sure that we do not do autopsies! The WHO has very good information that this "virus" does not kill! Pathologists from all over are under pressure to attribute the death to Coronavirus Infection. This WHO behavior is criminal behavior! We have no data on a "pandemic"! "- says Dr. Stoyan Aleksov .
There is a document from the WHO, which states that on every positive PCR test, at death, it should be declared caused by the "Coronavirus", regardless of other diseases.
    as I always was saying f*** Dr.Fauci
