When does it end? Never? Apparently so. You can’t even just be sitting in your house anymore

We've long known that law enforcement officers have no constitutional duty to protect us, but this is truly as awful as it gets.

If there is a practical lesson from this: make sure your front door is closed late at night. Or you too might have a "helpful" neighbor.

I don’t blame the neighbor at all, he called the non-emergency number for the police to simply do a welfare check. He didn’t dial 911 and say I think we have a break in here. But in I guess good follow up news the officer who killed this woman was fired and immediately arrested and charged with murder. You shouldn’t get to be above the law because you’re a cop, he clearly didn’t follow procedure or policy here and he’s a murderer.

I was going to come on here and start a debate as to why he was being charged with murder, but I realized Texas has different wording/qualifiers to reach the murder charge. And he fits the bill. such a sad story, no one wins in this. The officer jumped the gun, Literally. Now both families suffer.

while this is tragic, let’s cool it on when will it end quotes... I’m not sure what you’re referring to, I’m assuming racially motivated killings by police? A theory that I find disgusting and a thought process that is very dangerous.

im not sure where you find your information from, but the constitution gave the states the power to police their territory, and the states found “Police” the way to go and have been ever since.

It’s not perfect, but it’s the best system. And there’s no practical lesson here, it’s a tragedy. Like horrible.

These people need to resign and be prosecuted. Absolutely disgraceful demonstration of more corrupt politicians who enter into public office to scheme against the American people. Why are politicians even allowed to hold stocks or holdings in any company? That is 100% conflict of interest. The fact that Loeffler sold stocks of other companies to purchase one that specializes in WFH technology while telling Americans that the country is ready to handle this virus is PATHETIC! They should ban ALL politicians from having access to liquid equities ASAP... She was on the committee of Health!

It doesn't, but as far as I know, it is not illegal for elected government officials to use info they get from their job to benifit them financially. Basically it is insider trading if you, I, and Martha Stuart do it, but if we we a federal elected official it would be ok. It happens all the time.

There are rules against insider training. It's impossible to detect all cases of it but it's not exactly legal. The difference is when a company-man does it, they're employed by the company - not taxpayers. When elected officials do it, then it's a blatant case of using your authority for personal gain and this stuff is just the worse of the worst. At least the businessman admits to trying to make money. These politicians were part of the committee on this coronavirus discussion and deceived Americans about the impact it would have only to profit off the eventual damage it would cause.

Can't believe those other 3 cops right there hearing Floyd plead he couldn't breathe and did nothing to pull Chauvin off of him have not been charged with anything yet? Other than just get fired.

I've seen a lot of police brutality videos. This one was very strange. Usually cops are hotheaded and lash out with anger when they commit brutality. This was cold and calculating. And they did it right in front of a camera too.

I don't want to entertain a conspiracy theory until I'm sure what the motive is. My gut instinct just tells me something is off. I'll leave it at that for now.

There were times when the look on Chauvin's face seemed almost like he thought what he was doing was right, almost like it was standard operating procedure to handle someone that way. It was sort of like, "I've done this a bunch of times before. It'll be over soon." You're right that there was no anger on his face or any sort of moment where it looked like he snapped and got enraged. It was just a business as usual type look. I'm not sure if that means he thought he was handling the situation properly, or if he has done this so many times before that it's second nature to him. I can't imagine it's the later seeing as a cop murdering people or suffocating them to within an inch of their life would likely have come to light before now, so what was going through his head?

I don't think there is a conspiracy theory here though. I think a cop murdered a black man. Black people are angry and protesting. The COVID lockdown has frayed everyone's nerves so the protests were bound to turn ugly.

I just don't know what you do? A cop isn't going to check a box on the application that says he's racist idiot. Sometimes it's hard to know until something like this happens. I feel like they arrested the cop in a timely matter. Unfortunately, these idiots that are rioting and attacking people are going to make racism worse, not better. No one will remember all the peaceful protesters. That will be a side note to "The protests turned ugly." All those racist cops that haven't been outed yet are going to see these riots and use it as justification to continue treating black people poorly. Riots don't help race relations.

Granted, I don't think the vandals give two s***s about what happened to Floyd. They're just bad people who know they can get away with doing bad things right now.

the vandal broke his vehicle window, so he chased him down and kicked his butt

I'm not going to make too much of that, but it's not unexpected. His friends near him were trying to keep people from filming though because they had their heads on straight and knew it wouldn't look good.

The whole situation is sickening. Somehow I was out of pocket in military training during the Rodney King riots, and I'm overseas now. Makes it feel strangely surreal. Just sickening, and I apologize to all of my brothers who have to deal with this crap on a daily basis. I can't pretend to understand what it's like, but it's not ok. Maybe things will actually change now.

Things won't change. Once again, due to the actions of a few idiots that are rioting and attacking, the racists will become emboldened, and feel these riots are justification for their bigotry. This will die down. Some senators and mayors will say the right things. Then in a year or two another racist cop will do something stupid, and we'll be right back here.
