I mean, Trump/Hillary was the worst. I'd take Biden as president 100 times out of 100 over Hillary.

But I get what you're saying. How are these the two people vying for the most powerful position in the world? There are probably at least 10 people on this board I would trust 10 times more as President of the United States. I was hoping Buttigeig would make it through (I knew he wouldn't). Even though I disagree with him on a lot of policy, he isn't neck deep in corruption (that we know of) and he at least seemed semi-pragmatic.

This is why my vote to be President would have been Yang if he had been the nominee. Yang understands the issue. As much as I like Trump's presidency, it doesn't solve the problems we will have for the future. I knew Yang would not win based on the stupidity level of many Americans. How in the world is America limited to candidates who are 70+ years old? The majority of them look like they're out of touch with reality and are a few years away from being incapable of taking care of themselves - let alone the greatest country in the world. Trump, Bloomberg, Bernie, Biden, and Warren...? It's ridiculous.

    1) Yang's policies would solve a lot of the issues because Yang attacks the source of the problem. Students aren't failing because the government isn't spending enough money. Students are failing because of their socioeconomic issues. The government is terrible at running school programs and yet, spends the most. Yang understood that college isn't for everybody and that vocational and training schools should be more accessible to everyone. Yang understood that we spend more locking up prisoners than if we were to simply give them $1,000 a month and if they commit a crime, they lose that incentive. This decreases crime, efficiently spends tax revenue, and improves the status of every American.

    2) Yet, people would rather vote for a nutjob like Bernie who has accomplished what in his life? What makes Bernie a more intelligent and productive individual than the rest of us? His entire shtick is free this and we will tax that to fund it. Where is the answer to the source of the issue? I went to one of his rallies in Queensbridge since I am a few minutes away. Every time he said something about free, people cheered. Do these people understand that his policies are going to collapse when the economy tanks and the government can no longer afford to offer everything for free?

    3) They would rather vote for Joe Biden. Biden seems like a well-intentioned man but he is a creep who tries to kiss little girls and acts aggressively with people who he should be representing when they ask him basic questions. My grandma has early stages of dementia... Joe Biden is definitely showing symptoms that I've noticed my grandma began developing when we knew something was wrong. The way he forgets basic things and has trouble getting out his message is very troublesome to me. Does anyone expect this guy to represent you when he doesn't look like he is capable of responsibly taking care of himself?

    4) Many banks did not want a bailout in 2008. The feds forced them to take it. It was predatory lending practices but Americans got greedy as well and thought they could purchase a home and flip it for a hefty profit despite knowing that they would not be able to afford the payments. Sooner or later, someone was dealt with the wrong deck of cards and that is when it blew up. But the bailout was essential in boosting the economy and America made a hefty profit from that TARP program. Obama was a very good President and I would have voted for him a third time. He made some blunders but he was a very smart and responsible president.

    5) Hillary getting more votes is irrelevant. Most Democrats, by virtue of offering higher services, will tend to get more votes. This is why the electoral college exists and why Hillary lost. She campaigned poorly and didn't take an active approach in visiting states that were largely affected by issues that Trump spoke on. An analogy is like saying if the goal of an NBA game is to win just the 1st quarter. Totally different campaign strategy.

    6) Bernie is honest but his approach to it is easy. Go ask yourself, what is Bernie offering that anyone else can't? Why do you think politicians like AOC, Ilhan Omar, etc., are gaining traction? Take a listen to Mark Cuban and then listen to AOC and her closest colleagues. Does anyone believe that any of them could last ten seconds debating with Mark Cuban? No. But what AOC and her colleagues have is that they are the best at demanding free stuff. People will assume Mark is a capitalist who cares only about himself and that AOC is the angel who was sent here to save the world when in reality, Mark Cuban has done more than AOC would in 100 lives. So yes, you can be honest but being honest doesn't mean you have the best approach. Claiming you can give everyone free housing, guaranteed jobs, etc., is simply based on an absurd logic that the economy will continue growing and that the rich will always provide for it. Just look at how AOC handled the Amazon NYC approach. Yes, she was honest about how she felt. But she was totally ignorant about the facts revolving around Amazon coming to NYC.

    7) Biden only shot at this is COVID-19. His debate performances have been terrible and Trump will hit him like a truck with his aggressiveness. Biden can't last a three-hour debate with Trump nor can he handle the campaigning strategy of Trump. Unless this coronavirus is grossly mishandled and still exists during the election time, I can't see why anyone would vote for Biden. He's just another career politician who complains that the system isn't working but yet, has been in politics for over four decades. Same with Bernie... Where was Bernie in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 when the problems he talks about were still prevalent then? Oh right... Just another politician milking the game so he can sell some books when his presidential campaign fails.

Btw... if you have extra cash lying around or you have parents who do and you want to earn them some nice money for retirement, etc., take a serious look at purchasing equities within the next few weeks. Many of the safest stocks are down 20-30% just because of profit-taking and overreaction. Within a year, it should recover and your parents or wife/husband will be thanking you. Some transportation stocks are down 50-60% but people aren't going to stop flying in the future. Watch out for those with low cash in their balance sheet because they might file for bankruptcy. Look for those who can sustain themselves for a few months. Berkshire had around $160 billion in cash just waiting for this opportunity...

I mean, just to make it even easier, you can put your cash in and S&P 500 Index Fund. The Schwab one's fees are dirt cheap.

I guess it depends on how much effort you want to put into it but with plenty of buying opportunities across the board, higher returns can be made if someone opts for doing some research.

Bernie has used his campaign infrastructure, not to get money for his campaign but to collect donations for various organizations that need help during this crisis. He’s raised $2 million for these causes in the past few days. He’s having frequent “fireside chats” where he live streams from his house and discusses this crisis and what he believes needs to be done.

I haven’t heard a damn peep from Biden.

This has the potential to open up a gigantic can of worms about markets being efficient and fair price.

Bernie is out. Leaving Biden as the nominee ... presumably.

There has been speculation that the democrats are getting antsy and might have Biden step down at the convention and let the party chose someone else. I’d be really curious if that happens.

As vile and undemocratic as that would be in principle (which itself would probably turn off a lot of people), at this point I probably would take any of the other candidates who had been running previously over Biden. Dude is flat out senile.

If they choose another candidate, it's going to be Elizabeth Warren.

    EDIT - 06/22/20

I'm now no longer confident that it's Warren even though George Soros publicly mentioned wanting her.

It appears now that Michelle Obama is on track to either replace Biden or subvert him as the VP.

Our choices for president will be underwhelming. Again.

How many decades is this now?

Yes, this, I would pick pretty much any other candidate of sound mind.

Let’s see, I was born in ‘84, so about 17? Abraham Lincoln seemed pretty good. Wait, sorry, Kennedy seemed to be good too. But if you’re good they shoot you in the head.

Bernie stepped down because the economy is shot and we are under government control. There was nothing left for him to accomplish.

1 month into Socialism and he was like, F this, I'm outta here.

I don't know about that. There are some horrible candidates out there. It could be someone who isn't even running yet. Cuomo? Hillary? I think this would cause Bloomberg to throw his hat in again.

In the end I think it will be Biden vs. Trump. Biden will get exposed and embarrassed (for being legitimately senile) in debates and being on the campaign trail 24/7. Trump will win the presidency again while probably losing the popular vote.

If Biden is the best hope, it's like throwing in the towel IMHO.

The state of US politics is pretty embarrassing. I think the lifelong political career thing is generally a mistake, and has churned out a bunch of highly corrupt people tethered to agendas to support no matter how outlandish they seem. They are owned, bought, and paid for, and if they cross the wrong people, they will be going to jail.

So they parrot ridiculous party lines that would have left their younger selves cringing.

Wow, for a major candidate, he’s sure getting roasted. Almost feel bad for him.

If Bloomberg can't win the Dem primary spending over $600 million, how does Mark believe he'll win the presidency?

Mark would be hurting Biden more than Trump anyway, since Trump actually has a base that shows up to his rallys.

The only logical reason Mark would be doing this is for publicity/promotion.

How would Mark Cuban get any funding? It's way too late. He'd have to self-fund and even then, the barrage of information they can dig on him would lead to him having to risk his potential deals out there. Shark Tank is definitely out of the picture. What else? What does Mark Cuban gain when he's been doing so well? He's obviously a very smart guy so I doubt he would seriously entertain a bid to the White House at this point in his life. It would be funny, though. Cuban would roast the hell out of these media outlets.

He’d have to care more about the country, his ego, or legacy than his personal life. Not sure he’s there yet, but he might be. Is he going to miss out on 4-8 years of prime Doncic and KP from the sidelines to deal with drama he doesn’t need.

one thing I’ll agree with is we need smart self made guys like him that get the bigger picture over life long politicians who couldn’t successfully run a single business.

we give these people the biggest budgets in the world and pray for success, and it’s pretty ludicrous. But in past years, he’s also been a hothead. Not sure he’s the right guy for the job. His own organization was guilty of systemic sexual harassment. I don’t think the idea flies.
