Liked what I saw -defense wasn't great but he was in the right spots and he was physical -on offense, wasn't a ball stopper. Reposted Lebron, swung the ball around. He's going to eat up Kuz's minutes quickly if this continues
He did as good of a job that you would expect from someone who just signed a day ago. Missed a few wide open threes but was in the correct spots. LeBron and him still have to figure out where Markieff likes to go and the timing of it. 2-3 turnovers that could have been made baskets due to bad timing. I just like the big body and toughness he provides.
He looked lost as would any player first joining a system. Still contributed with some nice physical play and cut. He'll be a nice complement to AD down the stretch. A lineup of Caruso-Green-Lebron-AD-Morris is probably gonna be our most versatile lineup.
Good first showing considering he said he hasn't played in a couple weeks and didn't have his legs. Got good looks on his missed 3s. Operated well cutting to the basket. He recovers and rotates well definitely, even if he's out of position initially. Surprised me with that block. If he got that much burn night one, I imagine he'll get around 20 minutes a game
I loved what he brought - just toughness, good rotations on D, and he was in the right spots like others said - he just has to knock it down (and both looked a bit long so he'll get it back). I'm so happy with this pick-up already. He's going to make Kuz earn his minutes too.
I'm just happy we added size to this team. Hopefully less 2nd quarter meltdowns where the opposing wings take advantage of KCP.
you think that's how we'll use him? to defend big sfs? it's possible, but i'm not sure he's proven that he can do that particular thing.
If anything, he’s more of a banger, which will probably allow AD to play up on big SF’s with his length on the perimeter.
concern there is losing the shotblocking. it's part of why houston worries me. they'll pull AD away from the hoop, which is kinda what we do on that end.
I should have been more clear. He'll play the 4 and Kuz slides down to the 3. Kuz isn't a good defender but size is still size.
I had always heard Marcus was a ballstopper and assumed that Markieff might have a bit of that in him too. So far, that is not the case at all. There have already been a handful of possessions where he stood out to me simply by quickly moving the ball and making the right play instead of holding it for too long and trying to force something. Looking like a solid pickup so far.
Markieff has been an easy transition so far. Always nice to get vets that know how to play the game. Immediate benefits.
