I live in NY and do a lot of work in education. Saw this memorial at one of my client’s schools and wanted to share because I thought it was just another example of how Kobe has impacted people of all ages, everywhere.
man it would have been something to have those 2 guys on the same team. I knew kobe respected AI but never realized the feeling was more than mutual
I like indulging in this what if because we talked about it so much. The basketball fan in me daydreams about the mental edge that Kobe, KG and Phil would have given each other. I think they would have the defensive intensity of a MJ/Pip but coming from the 2 and 4 spot instead. The roster wouldn't be as talented, but it would be a sight to have 2 guys who will out play 95% of the league, every night. Phil's passion for having a defensive big man would have reached new heights with prime KG too. The Lakers fan in me is happier with the way things panned out. Pau was a perfect fit, and the roster was more talented overall with LO and Bynum. You can look at my history and find me trashing KG for years. But to be honest I'm just scorned from KG going to the C Bags instead of here. I was a fan of Minny KG and wanted him on the Lakers badly back then.
I've always wondered as well. I lost respect for Pau the player after that. I'll always love Pau the person, but he p!$#@ me off so much with his wimpy play that year and his whininess. I couldn't understand it. Where did Pau the warrior go? Disappeared never to be found again. I mean when Phil Jackson has to hit you in the chest to try and jumpstart your heart, what the heck is up? That was it for me with Pau.
