i think we threw our lot in with klutch. it got us davis. they got reggie jackson.

    that's what i thought.

i think it was moot due to the above. i'm sure we'd have taken him, but it wasn't going to happen. the press will talk it up as rob not knowing his a** from his elbow, but they've been embarrassingly wrong about that a couple times already.

doesn't stop anyone from going to houston, where that dynamic is basically explicitly stated. except their guys aren't as good, nor is their city.

i think part of the answer is we don't want these guys.

I agree that lack of desire for these players could be part of the equation. That would make me feel good about the front office if that were so as desperation got us into trouble last season.

After watching baseball's reaction to Houston I have little faith in professional sports integrity right now.

I wasn't kidding about hiring people to investigate under the table payoffs

    They are if healthy.

George needs to get healthy, though.

i only half-joked before collison's decision that ballmer might pay him not to play for us. this stuff happens, for sure. udonis haslem turned down much bigger offers to stay in miami--no way riley didn't cheat. no way. miami has been dirty for years, imo--basically riley's entire tenure. most teams probably do it to some extent, but nobody wants to fully snitch--unless it's on the lakers, of course.

so yeah, i think ballmer's cheating. hard. i think we're cheating, too, but maybe not as brazenly.

overall, i still think the clips' moves to block us at every turn make them look scared more than scary. i thought you guys were playing chess to our checkers for the past year. why you scramblin'?

if giannis didn't get owned by kawhi last year, i'd disagree, but the bucks are most definitely the "prove it to me" team. in theory, they should beat everybody, tbh. then the clips. then us. game ain't played in theory, though.

I think signing Rondo to a minimum contract is the biggest threat to the title this season. I lamented it when it happened, but I genuinely did expect to add a better backup than him via trade or buyout over time. I didn’t realize how strong his “vet presence” shtick is with LeBron and Vogel.

I think Ballmer is definitely doing some under the table kind of stuff. It would be great to nail him on the Kawhi’s free house and use of planes that he wanted this summer. Unfortunately I don’t think they’ll ever find a smoking gun.

    Nope. We will see.

    I don't trust the Bucks.

part of me wonders if bud is the new dantoni: master at devising systems that win in the regular season in dominant fashion. can't beat the best teams when it counts.

I honestly thought there was a chance Chris Paul, much as I can’t stand him, ended up here by some crazy circumstances.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

In a 7 game series, I'd utilize Davis like Tor did with Kawhi and shift all 5 defenders toward Giannis.

I think we win in 6.

Matter of opinion, I would bet on Philly over Milwaukee.

I think we are now both playing chess, but we are used to them playing checkers.

Having someone make you raise your game can only have positive results.

Listening to the Book of Basketball podcast on the Orlando Finals teams and I'm having ugly flashbacks to that Cavs/Magic series. Same sort of issues that the Lakers are having this season as the Cavs had: no big wings with length (ala tweener forward defenders) to throw at Hedo and Rashard. Those Cavs team had no one even in the same universe as AD but that series got ugly as the only Cavs defender was Delonte West pre-mental health breakdown and he was too short to contest Hedo's and Lewis shots

Clippers think they can win it all by collecting offensive talented players and totally disregarding the regular season

Fit right in with the usual unwarranted Doc Rivers confidence ...

Gonna be sweet when they're going to be eliminated in the postseason .

Can't wait for the excuses Cry me a rivers is going to come up with

Rodney McGruder will twist an ankle and he'll say, "This team doesn't lose if it's at full-strength. I can tell you that much. Injuries are a part of the game, but sometimes they are just too big to overcome. It'd be a different series if we had Rodney out there doing his thing."

The thing with the Clips is that they don't need all those players. They are signing guys to prevent us from signing them. They don't have minutes for those dudes. If they find minutes in the playoffs, that's because Kawhi/George/Lou can't play. And in that case, we'll win anyway.

Players pick them over us, even when it means riding the bench. Must be their awesome history, all the trophies, great ownership etc. Either all these players are retards... or something is really wrong with our franchise and we fail to see it.
One thing that im certain of, is that, if it wasn't for Bron, we would still be the laughing stock of the league.
