Out of the LBJ frying pan into the "Fire of Zion" = frustration of biblical proportions?

NAH. He'll reconcile his lot in NBA life and figure it out. Has a good head on his shoulders. I think.

    No news on Collison.

I haven't heard anything on the Iggy trade front either...

    I don't expect any trades.

I hope we can get one or both of these guys but I just don’t know if it’ll happen.

You'd think we'd cut Troy right? And if you had to cut Cousins but keep him around? IDK. We need those two guys but I can't think of breaking this team up atm.

Yeah, Troy would probably be the guy I'd cut, especially if we somehow had a shot at Iggy. Daniels is good at what he does but Iggy is an all- arounder. It would just be such an upgrade for the team to have a guy like Iggy.

Not my original post, but thoughts?

Lakers need a secondary ball-handler, wing defense and shooting. Here we go:

Deal 1. Rondo OR Bradley + Kuzma to Sac for Bjelica and "a pick".
So it seems that Sacramento offered Bjelica and "a pick" for Kuz. Not sure what kind of pick we're talking here, but i think the Lakers perhaps should consider it.

Deal 2 - Boogie, Cook, Daniels to Charlotte for MKG.
Charlotte saves 5M and give up nothing of value and can possibly move these guys to a third team.

Deal 3 - LA ship MKG and "a pick" to Memphis for Iguodala.
Depending of the quality of "a pick" LA could add future 2nd. Or not.

    Sign Collison.

PG Collison / Caruso / Rondo or Bradley
    SG Green / KCP
    SF Lebron / Iggy
PF AD / Bjelica / Dudley
    C Howard / McGee

    Thoughts?

I think any team executive focused on trades right now would be viewed in a very poor light

Just ship out 3 guys under these horrendous and wrenching circumstances to get back to your trades rather than moving one for Collison. Sorry this has all put a crimp in your eagerness to wheel and deal.

I would think Rob had been in touch with Collison before last Sunday. If that is going to happen, I would think it’s already been agreed upon.

I do think the team needs to make a move for a little help if we want to jump up in the title contender standings, but I also don’t see an easy deal to do that, and I can’t see how Rob is doing the whole trade thing right now. I get that it’s his job, but man it’s gotta be so difficult. At the same time, it’s going to make me want to punch my tv and puke if the Clippers win the title and dedicate it to Kobe, so yeah..conflicting emotions.

    1. Yes its very sad and still fresh, but Kobe wouldn't want us to stop trying. He would want us to do our best to win it all this year. And if that includes a couple of moves, it may be the big difference in winning it all or not.

    2. Other teams execs are definitely bummed out, but they aren't hit as hard as this franchise

I view your perspective in a very poor light also, but I won’t let it affect how I view you as a poster. It’s just an opinion, but it doesn’t really sit right with me. Life is bigger than basketball, and I would not be surprised if the trade deadline this year is fairly dead.

while I’ll agree that other teams executives obviously don’t feel the same as Laker fans, this just feels very different. It’s hard for me to think that you are actually a Laker fan to be posting trades like that right now. It’s definitely too soon. They haven’t even played a game since it happened yet

But business can be cold and calculating and emotionless at the highest levels. Part of me will not be surprised if no deals are made at all, and part of me believes at the proper time if there is something beneficial, that Rob will consider it.

it just feels like a total lack of appreciation for such an impactful life to already be suggesting trades. No offense intended, but I just cannot relate with your perspective at this time.

Even looking at it from the on-court perspective, how would that be for chemistry to ship out a few guys immediately after this tragedy? It's underestimating how close they are and how important family is in times like these to jump right back into trade talk. If a trade happens, then whatever, but the idea of discussing trades like this is NBA 2k right now makes me feel weird.

To me, talking hoops and trades like before makes things feel more normal

Obviously we don't 100% know what kobe would want us to do. But as one of the most fierce competitors ever, I don't know if he would want us to just kind of lay dead and not even try to improve the team. Kobe was cut throat and this is all coming from a non kobe fan growing up

It does feel like a very dehumanizing approach to the game and ignoring the human factor. That stuff plays a bigger role than people think.

we might not have the perfect roster, but it may be more meaningful to overcome the odds and win with this group who is fully invested.

I wouldn't consider not making trades to be laying dead. Personally, I'd be far more interested in watching this group give 100% every night to honor Kobe. I believe they can compete with anyone and I'd rather lose with what we've got than trade guys away. I'm not saying there's an objective right or wrong, but I'd rather ride with our squad as is.

I would be very content waiting on a guy like Collison or cherry picking the buy out market. Somehow I really doubt making a trade is high on the list of Rob at this time

All of that aside it's going to be Jeanie's call and at this time I don't believe she will let 3 guys no matter who go. Who AD and Bron are close to factors. Boogie further motivated could actually come back this year for some small effective role but he and Cook are well liked. To me best option is Daniels and they deal with him as up front and honorably as they can. He doesn't find out on about it on line. And they really tell the truth to other executives when asked how he still can ball and shoot. Just not enough minutes to go around and Frank's a defense first guy.

She's not going to let them lose 25% of their collective soul at a time like this. Everyone is healthy and more motivated than any athletes on the planet. Give us health and we shock the world. One More Impactful Player I think is all they could do.

Bringing in Collison obviously makes the most sense and is reasonable

I just don't know if we can win it all w/o a wing defender

If we could add Iggy through buyout as well, then I would be happy
