It’s pretty amazing that Kobe turned a bitter and jealous rival in LeBron James into a big enough fan that he’s willing to get a tattoo of him permanently on his body

Kobe rose above all of the pettiness in sports, openly rooted for other rivals, Invested energy to help them become better players, and became bigger than all of them. That is truly a who’s your daddy moment

when other NBA players (SUPERSTARS!!!) are getting tattoos of you, I think you officially “made it”

At the end of the day with all the shallowness and silliness of the "internets" aside ..... bottom line with all those in the world of Basketball that came before him, those who were his contemporaries and those just now entering the league & beyond .... Game knows Game. Those skills some of them, many of them they simply cannot do. And he was willing to share it even while kicking your *ss any way he could if competing against you.

And fortunately for Kobe the quality of video imaging was picking up considerably by the time he got to the league so there's thousands of high quality clips out there edited by amateur and pro fans each ..... per their favorite moments of the amazing things he did. In MJ's period and prior still good clips but the quality not so clear and immediate. Gotta love what Youtube gives us to choose from and view!!!!

Please don’t take this personally, but this is the exact attitude that I hate in our fanbase.

Instead of calling him out, I think I’ll give our leader a pass for going 22, 10, and 8 in a regular season loss given all of the emotional baggage.

Tonight was bigger than basketball. I think it took a lot of balls to speak from the heart the way he did before the game in such a big moment for the franchise.

And while he was doing it ... I think he was also being strategic and making sure to emphasize the appeal of the Lakers family. Right after he talked about how glad he is to be here, he says him and his teammates should carry Kobe’s legacy not only for this year but as long as they can play basketball. I’m sure AD heard that loud and clear.

I think it would be a bit unfair to judge anybody to harshly for the rest of the season much less for one game

Learning about Kobe's relationship between LeBron, Wade and others was one of my favorite things about remembering him this week. Wade and Bron make it pretty clear that they looked up to Kobe their whole careers, and that they worked hard for his respect. Stories from the Olympics illustrate this pretty well. This week Wade pretty much lamented the fact that he was forced to rival one of his heroes. When guys older than Kobe began to phase out of the league, Kobe's role as a mentor and teacher began to be pretty clear. They all idolized him.

Bron didn't looks the best on the court, but I don't expect anyone to be right. I was not a productive person this week. But I do like the way Bron showed love for Kobe in response to this tragedy. I look forward to an inspired LeBron going forward.

I think LeBron showed plenty of leadership and grit tonight. It’s not his fault Rondo and a couple others are still on this roster.

And he's played like basura against top tier defenses; but as I keep reiterating, he is 35.

A 30 year old LeBron under the same circumstances probably goes for 40 tonight.

He's been amazing through this whole ordeal, though, but we definitely need another shot creator and wing defender.

He's getting older so can't blame him for not having spectacular stats every game

Sure but he wasn't interested in/very hesitant about scoring the ball in this game .

It looks like his offensive repertoire is getting smaller this season ...

Got to trust his midrange game more...

It is what it is but this reality sucks when thinking about the playoffs

he didn't seem engaged in the game, imo. like he was trying to be, but wasn't. only AD, kuz, and bradley looked like they were ready to play to me.

not that he played particularly well (really only AD did that)--he just seemed to play with the proper aggressiveness throughout. guys were REALLY soft to start the game. lebron led the way with some lazy play, imo. well, not lazy--like i said: disengaged. it was like the lakers were hoping portland would hand the game. and lillard has basically never done that.

My head empathizes with how difficult it must have been for everyone to play last night. But, just being honest here, my heart is really disappointed that lebron didn’t go beast mode last night. He played fine, it’s just that last night felt like it should have been a “let me be your Kobe” kinda game.
